Joao was a wonderful guide. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the Douro Valley! The views were spectacular, the wine production tour was great, the wine-tasting was lovely, and lunch was amazing. During the car ride to and from the valley, we enjoyed our conversations with Joao about wine and Portugal. We highly recommend this tour of the Douro Valley!

This was the best experience we have had in Portugal. Our guide Joao was exceptional in all ways. His detailed knowledge of the region and the Port Wine Making process made this a very pleasant day. Additionally, we had a terrific culinary experience at a restaurant in the valley chosen by our guide. We will be back soon and plan to use the Oporto&Douro Moments Team again. What a great experience we had! To be honest, having looked at several options for a day trip to Douro Valley, I was extremely apprehensive when it came to booking one of these. My first experience was talking to Sara, who was really patient and understanding, and helped me what to include in the tour and what not. Her son, Joao, who was our guide for the day, hit all the right spots! The beautiful villages he selected, the wonderful churches, the viewing spots, the lunch, the wine tasting (a wonderful family winery!), the information he shared - all was simply top notch. He was also very friendly and not once did he make us feel we had to hurry. Highly recommended - and many thanks Sara and Joao!

We had an amazing trip to the Douro Valley. We traveled with my mother (74) and two daughters in early 20s and their college friends. Joao was extremely knowledgeable of the area which was gorgeous. We then went to a fabulous winery for wine and olive oil and had a delicious lunch. I was pleased they customized the tour so we could get back to Porto on time for my daughters.

Our guide Sara was great. Very knowledgeable about the major attractionsas well as some interesting facts on the history of Porto and less of the path history and places to visit. Thoroughly enjoyable great day

Our recent tour of the Duoro Valley and its wineries and vineyard was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Joao, the tour guide, is exceptionally well-versed in all aspects of wine and winemaking and did a phenomenal job of selecting interesting wineries and a superb restaurant for our lunch. This tour, and Joao, provided a 5 star experience for our family that we will never forget. We have already recommended this tour to others as we thought so highly of it. Well worth the money.

This is the BEST wine-tasting tour anywhere in the world. From the moment impeccably dressed João picked us up in his luxurious van we knew we were in excellent hands. João is a skillful professional with a deep love for the Douro Valley and for the craft of wine. He is very knowledgeable about so many topics and the 8 hours spent in his company was delightful and rewarding. Our expectations were exceeded beyond anything we could have anticipated. The most superlatives are deserving of this excellent experience and I can only say that it was definitely the highlight of this trip in every respect….the vineyards visited, the extraordinary lunch and the views and travelogue …..all were in the rarefied atmosphere of being called unforgettable. This is a must excursion for any visit to this part of Portugal.

We were so lucky that Joāo was available to give us a private Douro Valley Wine Tour during the days that we were in Porto. Joāo is the son of Sara, who owns the family-owned Oporto & Douro Moments touring business, and he is every bit as professional and knowledgeable, talented, kind and fun as his amazing mother. Joāo is a fantastic driver and took us deep into the Douro Valley, where we immersed in the exquisite landscapes, took photos at mesmerizing viewpoints, tasted the best Douro wines and toured charming wineries and learned so much about their ancient and modern wine-making methods. The lunch we had was a gastronomic experience beyond compare. This was one of the best and most memorable days imaginable -- thanks to Joāo! As sad as we will be to leave Porto and the Douro Valley behind and return home, we are now excited to taste all of the delicious port wine we ordered!

Our tour was AMAZING- highly recommend. A private tour for me & my boyfriend was what we wanted and this entire day was perfectly curated. João was super knowledgeable and great to spend the day with. They easily accommodated my food allergy for lunch too. Loved supporting this mother/son family-run business too.
