Sailing through Douro River allows you to take in the famous Ribeira (old town) and view the typical Porto houses and the cellars as they were meant to be seen, from the water. On this 2-hour Douro river private sailing cruise you’ll experience a different Porto on the water. The meeting point is at Douro Marina in front Deck C and then you’ll board on the Argonauta. Once sailing on the water, you’ll enjoy the most breathtaking views of Douro river estuary and Porto city, whilst getting a running commentary of famous sites (Arrábida bridge, Dom Luís I bridge, Ribeira, cellars etc). Your 2-hour cruise concludes at Douro Marina situated in the picturesque fishing community called St. Peter of Afurada, here, you can continue visiting this parish at your leisure and own expense. Bring your camera, your sunglasses, some sunscreen, and don't forget to bring a Bluetooth device loaded with your favourite music. 3. Igreja da Confraria das Almas do Corpo Santo de Massarelos
The church started to be built in 1776 and belonged to the "Confraternity of the Souls of the Holy Body of Massarelos" founded in 1394. The Portuguese Infante D. Henrique (the driver of the Portuguese discoveries) was one of the confreres of this institution.
4. Alfandega Porto Congress Centre
Porto Customs House (Alfândega do Porto). The French architect Jean Colson built the former customs house in 1869 (first stage).
5. Cais De Gaia
Famous for its port wine lodges, the ancient town of Vila Nova de Gaia lies directly opposite the great city of Porto on the steep south bank of the River Douro.

7. Ribeira Square
The Ribeira district spreads alongside the Douro river and used to be a centre of intense commercial and manufacturing activity since the Middle Ages. Also since that time the Ribeira Square was the site of many shops that sold fish, bread, meat and other goods.

It is an urban parish in the city of Gaia. Afurada is located near the mouth of the Douro river, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is a traditional fishing village and was created as such. Its patron saint is Saint Peter, hence the name São Pedro, the equivalent in Portuguese.
9. Reserva Natural Estuario do Douro
The Douro estuary is located in the parish of São Pedro da Afurada, it has an area of 62 hectares, it is a resting, feeding and sheltering place for many species of migratory birds.
10. Molhe e Farolim de Felgueiras
The Felgueiras Lighthouse is situated at the edge of the Douro's river mouth and the Atlantic coastline of Foz do Douro.

My girlfriend and I had the privilege of experiencing a sunset cruise on the Douro River with Captain Raoul, and it was nothing short of magical. From the serene glide over the water to the breathtaking views of Porto at dusk, every moment felt like a step out of time. Captain Raoul not only showcased his expertise and hospitality but also treated us to some exquisite bottles of Porto wine, which were a delightful complement to the evening. Additionally, his photography skills captured stunning photos of us, making the memories even more special. This cruise is highly recommended for anyone looking to make special memories in Porto.

When asked by us, the captain Raul gave us a choice to sail on the ocean or go up the Douro river. It was a perfect day for actually sailing so we went out on the ocean. it was fabulous to be under full sail as this is something we love. We did Port tasting while we were sailing and that was done well. Raul and George were Very skilled and a pleasure to have as our captain and mate. A very fun and very enjoyable experience. It was a pleasure to be on board this sailboat. It was a high point of our time in Porto.

Highly recommend this to anyone!! This was a beautiful guided tour with loads of porto wine to taste. Raul and Jorge made the trip so much more enjoyable by being kind and attentive. We did not feel rushed to get off, they really took care of us and took it to the next level. I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

We elected to take the private sailing tour with port tasting. What a great adventure!! Raul and his 1st mate George were fantastic!! They provided a unique insight to the history of Portugal, Porto and the Douro Valley. They became instant friends as we sailed under the beautiful bridges of Porto and out to the Atlantic Ocean. We could not have asked for a better adventure. Easy booking and easy meeting. Thank you Mar Douro and Viator.

It was a beautiful day, the guide was so knowledgeable & personable, he let us drive the boat, it was a good way to be introduced to Porto after just arriving.
He served great wine! A lovely first experience! I just wish it were longer! 😁

I cannot express how welcoming the captain was for our cruise. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and Raul pulled out all the stops. His boat was immaculate, his experience as a captain made us feel very safe, and his love and knowledge of his city made our trip. We could not have asked for a better anniversary cruise. If you are on the fence, just book it. It is so much better and worth the additional cost over cruises we passed with packed boats and tourists bumping into each other to take a photo.
