The Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC was fought between 300 Spartans, 700 Thespians & locals led by King Leonidas of Sparta against the mighty Persian Empire led by King Xerxes. To start off we really enjoyed the company of our Tour Guide Nikos. He was super friendly, always looked out for us, and made us comfortable. The car we toured in was comfortable, clean, and new.

It’s a bit of a drive out to Delphi from Athens but the countryside was beautiful.

Loved, loved the history of Delphi and the museum there. The location of where it sits on Mount Parnassus is so beautiful.

There was not much there at the Battle Site of Thermopylae. Even our guide Nikos said up front you have to use our imagination. I would say unless you are really hardcore about the history of that battle you can get away with skipping it.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day trip to Delphi and Thermopylae. Peter, our guide, was so informative. He was happy to share history but also information on modern day Greece. He also has a great sense of humor which added to the day. My husband was excited about Thermopylae , and Peter provided extra videos and context for us. I have been so excited to visit Delphi and was not disappointed. Lunch was delicious with an amazing view of the valley. The day was magical for us and we highly recommend the trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Peter! If you can, you must do a private tour. Peter was so personable and so knowledgeable about the history of Delphi and Thermopylae and the region and he made it fun to share his knowledge of history with us. He also took great pictures of us! He gave us plenty of time to enjoy the museum and lunch. We did not feel rushed. His car was also very comfortable and he provided water and pastries. I strongly recommend this tour. Ask for Peter! You won’t regret it.

Peter, our driver and guide was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the region and answered all our questions. He spent a lot of time explaining Thermopylae and the war and also the history of Delphi. The museum was very enjoyable. The car was comfortable. I 100% recommend this tour

This day trip with Yannis is a must-do adventure! From the moment he arrived at our hotel we knew we were in good hands. The car ride included amazing sweets and cold water. In addition to the amazing views of Delphi, Yannis our guide was a master storyteller, making for a treasured experience and enhancing our understanding of the ancient sites we visited. The lunch was so much more than a meal; we were perched atop the cliff taking in the landscape and panoramic sea views below through picture windows of a quaint and elegant family restaurant. The food at To Patriko Mas was nothing short of spectacular, paying tribute to local fresh ingredients and recipes perfected over generations. All of this was orchestrated by Yannis, resulting in a day none of us will forget!

Our day with Yannis on the tour was truly delightful. He greeted us warmly in the morning, picking us up from the hotel to kick off our private tour. Boarding our small bus, we were provided with water and a box of snacks for the journey to Delphi. Yannis demonstrated an extraordinary knowledge of the region and tailored the tour to suit our preferences. The tour commenced with a visit to the battle site made famous by the movie 300. His engaging narrative brought the area to life. Moving on to Delphi, Yannis shared the history of the region, offered guidance on efficiently exploring the archaeological site and museum. The day concluded with an unforgettable dining experience at a local Taverna, highly recommended for its excellent views from the restaurant.

I requested and the tour operator confirmed that our tour would begin at 8:00 am. That was never communicated to the driver so that fact plus a traffic jam our driver showed up 1 hour and 20 minutes late. Also they sent a small mini van with facing seats and we had to squeeze 7 people into an uncomfortable seating arrangement for a 2.5 hour drive each way.
Completely unacceptable since I requested at the time of booking a larger vehicle.
If you are traveling with a group of 6 or more full size adults do not book this tour since the vehicle they supply is inadequate for such a long driving tour.
The only good part of the trip was that our driver was courteous and made every effort to make the tour pleasant as possible.
