Visit and learn about two essential places in Madrid in one morning. We will start the day with a full visit to the Royal Palace, a gigantic building symbolic of the European monarchs, that will surprise us with its rich decoration and the number of rooms and halls it contains.

After a walking guided visit the main iconic places of Madrid between the Royal Palace and the Prado Museum, we will finish our journey with with a 90-minute tour of the Museo del Prado, seeing its most outstanding rooms and paintings. Special emphasis will be placed on the paintings that have in one way or another changed the history of art and become universal references. We will get to see works by Murillo, Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, and Tiziano among many others.

All of these visits will be made using points of preferential access, with official guides and with entrance fees included. This way, all that you have to worry about is enjoying Madrid and its beautiful monuments.

Our second tour guide that walked us from the Royal Palace to the Prado Museum. She was very educated and knowledgeable on the history of the city and the artwork in the Prado Museum.

Not a good idea to visit these two places at once. The walking distance between both places is insane with no time to eat or drink anything. After our arrival to the Del Prado Museum, the tour guide did not offer us the option of using the restrooms. Everyone in the group complained about it.

I wish I could rate the two landmark visits seperatly. First we went to the Royal Palace with Carlos. Other than some issue with entering the palace which left us standing in the cold for about 40 minutes, this excursion was very good. Carlos was a very good guide with lots of knowledge and was able to take us through crowded rooms with ease. Overall it was a very interesting time. My only con about this visit is we were given no time at all in the gift shop but rather had to rush outside and wait for two people to join the tour (they never showed up) We then did a nice walk thru the city toward the Prado Museum (note we stopped at San Miguel Market for bathrooms but more time here would have been nice). At the Prado we were handed off to another tour guide, a women whos name I cannot remember. This is where our poblem was...she was very nice but she had a very heavy accent which would have been ok except she held the microphone directly on her lips which cause terrible static and made it impossible to understand her. We asked her to try holding the microphone further away from her lips but for whatever reason she was unable to do so or chose not to do so. Also as we went thru the museum she spoke way too long and in too much detail about specific paintings ... almost like an art history class. People in our group were leaving the tour because of these issues and our group also decided to leave from her group because of these issues. We finished touring the museum on our own. If I could rate seperatly I would give the Royal Palace a 5 star and the Prado a 1 star. In hindsight I wished we had booked the tour that just had the Royal Palace. Side note: this tour used a weird kind of ear mike that I have never seen in all my tour excersions...the ear peice kind of laid on top of the ear rather that a tradition ear plug king of headphone. This weird ear piece was difficult to keep on and made listening even more difficult.

The overall impression is way "low" beyond the expectations. Paying enough money for skip the line tickets group is not what we got: the group was big, 25 people and some were very late that guide should wait and keep the rest of people in early morning's freezing weather. Then we walked to the Royal Palace and stood in line about 30 minutes waiting for letting us get inside. The guide Carlos was knowledgeable and entertaining that's kept group curios about history of palace and other places we walked by. But because we lost significant time at the beginning, he was in hurry not to be late by the end of his duty time. We couldn't much enjoy the tour itself by not having time for personal needs, nor eat properly to replenish the energy since early morning.
After Carlos left, we got other guide Benny for Museo Del Prado. As she started the presentation, it felt wrong. She walked back and forth by stopping at one painting for long to explain some details that average tourist doesn't want to know, unless if the tourist is passionate artist.
I realized that we didn't have enough time and we were really tired after longer waiting line and hungry. So we just left group and walked by themselves arou the d museum to enjoy every single painting by reading the description for it.

Marta as a tour guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, describing the history and tying that into the current situation for both the Royal Palace and the Prado Museum.. she was also patient and gently but firmly reminded us where photos were not slliwed. Also the route she took in walking us from the Palace to the Prado was very informative and a hidden gem of the tour .

The tour guide was very personable and effectively shared the information about what we were seeing
My only disappointment was the lack of transportation between the Palace and the Museum Prado. I am 71 and was unable to walk that distance and still continue to enjoy walking the Palace and museum tour I scheduled. Fortunately a small group of us rented a taxi; as they also seemed surprised about lack of transportation provided by tour company between the sites.

A can't-miss experience with some of the world's greatest works of art. But you should know what you're getting into. Frustrating, maddening, confusing.

1. Tickets are on one side of the museum, the entrance on another.

2. No wifi. Repeat: no wifi.

3. Good luck finding what you're looking for: the museum offers a "map," but said map does not tell you where anything is, nor is there an index.

3. The three floors are divided into room numbers, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to how they are organized. And only about half the room numbers are actually numbered. And again, no index.

4. Guides everywhere, but if you ask them, say, "Where is 'The Garden of Earthly Delights?'" they'll say "Second floor." Well, where on the second floor? Again, no index. You could probably ask Google, and it would know what room and floor in .009 seconds, but no wifi.

5. For 5 Euros, you can buy a "guided tour," but it literally does not tell you where the thing it is discussing is actually located. Insane.

I think somewhere on the right panel of "The Garden of Earthly Delights" is a miniature version of El Prado.

Marta was very knowledgeable and informative concerning the Madrid Palace tour. She always asked if we had questions and if we had any thoughts or opinions. The tour length was appropriate but could have been a little longer. Otherwise, the presentation was on point, and there was a lively discussion with all tour members. Ok, I will say, be ready to get your steps in; she’s a fast one. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know, or the company.
