This was exhilerating! Not for the faint-hearted. Ricardo, the tour guide/driver, was the absolute best. Highly recommend.

Ricardo was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, who drove us up tracks you wouldn’t usually get to without a 4 x 4. The view from the top was obscured at times by cloud but you could still get a feel of the size of the city below. Being out of the city felt good. We also visited a cookie shop in Valango, which also sold port, wine and cheese, the cheese was cheaper than it is in the city, later stopping at a bar in a small village and sampled meat, cheese and olives.

Today was another reaffirming day about my love for people no matter where they are from. Today I went on a 4 x 4 jeep excursion into the Mountains of Porto. My new friend Ricardo, who helps run and operate Oporto Mountain Tour, picked me up this morning as well as our other new friend Alina who was visiting from Latvia. We were taken to a local town named Valongo which is outside of the main city of Porto, but still within the district of Porto. We visited a local cookie shop named Paupério which has been around for almost 150 years. Delicious cookies were sampled and I now understand why they have been around for almost 150 years. We then traveled to Praque das serras do Porto which is a natural mountainous park outside of the city. Ricardo showed us mines and wells that were originally established by the Roman empire who were mining for gold. He also explained that eucalyptus trees now cover the mountains and were originally transferred from Australia and used to help produce paper. He also showed us a cork tree and it really felt like a cork used for a wine bottle. We then scaled the mountain in his jeep and made it to the top. Initially, I thought that there was fog covering the valley from our view, but it was actually the clouds moving due to how high up we were. Ricardo, Alina, and myself talked about our backgrounds, childhood, families, and about life in general. I felt like I met two kindred souls on this trip who were aligned with my soul. It was so easy talking to one another and getting to know each other. And I will forever be grateful for sharing the experience I had with them. We took some great Instagram worthy pictures at the top of the mountain on a swing which Ricardo took pictures of in great detail. The man truly has a gifted skill with photography. We then took a nice roller coaster ride in the jeep down to the bottom of the valley in which we visited a farm that had been established there since 1760 that had the same bloodline of family still living there. It was beautiful and peaceful and I could see why the family still wanted to live there. We then continued on to the neighboring town in which we went and enjoyed a delicious meal at the local restaurant. We continued to have wonderful conversations about many topics and I truly felt connected to these two people. We eventually headed back to Porto and when we parted ways I wished my new friends that I Hope They Have A Happy Life. It was another day that I will never forget in this lifetime.

This excursion was absolutely incredible. Ricardo was the driver and guide for the trip and he was so personable, friendly, and kind. I was joined by Katia for our trip. She was another traveler in Porto who was from Latvia. We were like The Three Musketeers on our trip. We all enjoyed one another’s company which made the trip even better. Pick up at my hotel was super convenient and worth any additional cost. We travelled to the mountains and took the winding trails in the park that we visited. The natural beauty and peace it brought me was worth the price alone. We visited various locations along our travels. We stopped in our first town at a local pastry shop that had been around for almost 150 years. We tried samples and of course I decided to buy a few things there. We then headed to the park and saw old mine shafts and wells that were from ancient Roman times. We then drove up the mountain for breathtaking views. There were plenty of fun conversations shared between the 3 of us during our time at the top of the mountain. When we headed down from the top of the mountain, we stopped at a local farm in the bottom of the valley which had been owned and taken care of by the same blood line of family which had been there for 160 years. It was very interesting to see how they still lived off of the land. It also was very peaceful while walking around the property. We eventually went down into a small town and shared a delicious meal at the local restaurant in the small village outside of the city of Porto but still considered in the district of Porto. All three of us still continued to get to know one another and talk about ourselves and about life in general. I felt like I was meant to meet Ricardo and Katia because we all got along so well and had a great time on the trip. I highly recommend anyone to go on this trip and request Ricardo and his company. And I hope that anyone going on this trip will enjoy it just as much as I did. It truly was a wonderful day.

This is a seriously good tour, it's a proper off-road trail, this isn't just little hills and dirt roads. Very exciting with brilliant views. Our tour guide Ricardo is a super cool guy and is very knowledgeable about the area you go through, teaching you a lot a bout the history. Really an experience not to be missed!

We had so much fun on this trip! Our guide was so knowledgeable and accommodating. My husband is in a wheel chair and our guide was so nice to pick us up at our ship and take wheelchair. Our trip was so much fun and interesting. We really felt immersed in the culture of the area and the sights were beautiful! I would highly recommend this trip!
