On this tour will be trying some of Porto’s most alluring ‘petiscos’ (6 food portions), some of the local drinks (5 drinks) and most of all, to end up in the best way, the sweets!
During the tour we will talk about curious aspects of the food we try, and about the rich history and present of Porto.
In the end you will have an excellent perspective of Porto, and (hopefully) go with excellent memories!

Fantastic tour on arrival in Porto with Joao. He was so knowledgeable about Porto and took us to places we would never have seen otherwise. The food was authentic and delicious and so was the wine ! Plenty of tastings and such a fabulous introduction to a great city. Joao was like a friend by the end of the tour , he was great ! Would thoroughly recommend this half day tour.

My friends and I were spending the weekend in Porto and booked this tour due to its affordable price and great reviews. Joao was extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine and gave us lots of local tips and told cool stories. We were a group of 4 guys in our 20s and he catered everything to our age and experiences very well. Afterwards, Joao invited us to come watch his band play at one of the bars we had visited earlier! The hospitality shown was something that made us feel so at home. Everything was fantastic and I would recommend anyone in Porto to do this tour. We can't wait to go back!

Lots of fun with our guide João. He had good explanations about the food and took us to real local restaurants that tourists would never find. Great local experience. We enjoyed our conversations about culture and daily life in Porto in addition to trying tasty food.

The tour with Joao was like visiting a city with a good friend. He took us to some great authentic places we would have never seen on our own. He was friendly, funny and full of information. The tour was just the two of us and Joao so it was basically a private tour which made it even better.

João was a wonderful tour guide, with deep local knowledge and excellent English, but most impressive was his control of the weather. The weather was so bad before the tour started, I expected it to be cancelled. When I got to the meeting point, however, the skies had miraculously cleared up and the aggressive wind died down. Not miraculously: João. When we got to our first stop, a few raindrops fell just as we ducked inside, but then there was no more rain when we came out after enjoying our wine and soup. At our third stop, João skipped us past those waiting in line for the busy restaurant, to our table from which we could watch the downpour of rain that began as soon as we came inside. We ate our Bifanas in comfort, watching through the windows as leaves blew by and umbrellas turned inside-out in the street. Finished with our meal, João once again calmed the storm so that we could move on to the market place. The rain held off… sorry, João held the rain off… until we could finish the tour with dessert. I never opened my umbrella once. Coincidence? No: João. For someone with social anxiety who almost chickened out, I’m so glad I went on this tour. I learned a great deal about the local food and wine, and João did a great job of facilitating the group conversation, so that we were all friends by the end. I did not feel there was too much walking, although the Uber ride back to the hotel showed that we covered a lot of ground. I would recommend this as a wonderful start to a stay in Porto!

We highly recommend this tour for everyone visiting Porto! Jaoa is an amazing guide, with his knowledge, genuine interest and passion for the city’s history, culture and the impact on the traditional foods in Portugal is apparent. Joao is Enthusiastic about what he does, fun to be with and we would hang out with him personally. If there were more more stars, we would rate this higher than 5 stars.

Our guide, João, was exceptional. His knowledge of the food scene and history of the city made the time fly by. The food at each stop was delicious and authentic. We got an appreciation of good, local Portuguese food. Thanks for the great day!

I want to say that we had so much fun with Joao on our food tour. Joao is so knowledgeable and passionate about his city of Porto. He even helped with a few touristy things we needed to take care of. We visited some great spots and tasted great food..and we came away with a huge liking for vino verde!
