Pompeii and Herculaneum are two of Europe's most extraordinary archaeological sites, yet reaching them can be challenging. Traveling by high-speed train, we've removed the stress so that you can spend your time visiting incredible sites and making memories, not sitting on a cramped bus!

Pompei was a large and diverse city with a healthy mix of wealthy elite, merchants, artisans, and slaves whose lives you'll get a crystal-clear glimpse of on a 2-hour walking tour.

After some rest-and-recharge at an authentic pizzeria, a short transfer will take us to our second destination.

Less than half the size of Pompeii, Herculaneum was a small coastal city characterized by remarkably preserved wooden structures and vibrant frescoes. With an expert guide by your side, walk in the footsteps of the noble Romans who once called this lost city home.

Upon conclusion of your tour, a short transfer will bring you back to Naples Station, where your fast train back to Rome awaits!

What an experience! So glad we booked this tour! Going to Pompeii and Hurculaneum on your own would be fun, but the knowledge we received from our guide Paola, was priceless! She was a walking encyclopedia! She was so fun and the sweetest, so she made our whole day great! Highly recommend her and this tour!

Our guide Paula was amazing and knowledgeable. We had a small group of 6 which added to the intimacy and close touch. Food at the lunch restaurant was 3/5, only downside of the journey. High speed train was great way to get there from Rome.

This trip was one of the highlights of our time in Italy. Our tour guide, Antonio. Was amazing and was so knowledgeable about Pompeii and it’s history. Lunch at the winery was also excellent- great foods and wines.
The tour bus was very comfortable and having our train tickets sorted for us ahead of time made things very easy to navigate.
Would recommend to anyone interested in the history of Pompeii

What an amazing experience! Everything with When In Rome Tours was super easy. We met a guide at the train station who brought us to the train to Naples and then we met up with our Pompeii guide, Antonio, once we got to Naples. Antonio was a fantastic guide. He grew up in the modern city of Pompeii and his grandfather worked on the restoration of ancient Pompeii. He clearly loved showing his guests the ancient city. This was a Bucket List experience for me and it was just perfect. Lunch and wine tasting afterward was delightful and delicious. We connected with people from all over the world. It really was a wonderful experience. I would absolutely recommend When In Rome Tours to anyone looking to have a well-guided and thoughtful tour while in Rome/Italy.
