TLDR; pickup @ 7:45am, air conditioned Mercedes, Tour guide was amazing, pompeii entrance by shops and toilets.
Picked up @ 7:45am, confirmed with a WhatsApp message the night before. If you’re worried you can message via the Viator app a day or two before.
The driver was great, vehicle was a fully air conditioned Mercedes people carrier/van. Shared with another 6 people (8 total).
Journey was as you’d expect at that time, busy but took no more than 1 hour to get to pompeii.
Greeted by Sasa the tour guide at one of the entrances to the Pompeii area. This was by some shops, restaurant, toilets, etc. You had time to use these before the tour.
Sass was amazing as a guide. Extremely knowledge, tbh his father and grandfather use to do tour guides so it runs in the family! As we passed each guide they all knew Sasa and honestly everyone said he’s the best in the business.
We could have easily stayed for longer but due to a lack of time, this tour time was ideal for us to at least get a flavour of Pompeii and its history. I have noticed people’s reviews complain about the tour length but you chose 2hrs so what do you expect?! If you want longer then pay for a longer tour, this has nothing to do with the quality of the tour and shouldn’t impact your rating!
I’d definitely book Sasa, maybe directly next time but easily for a longer tour just because there’s so much you could learn from him.

The Pompeii guide himself was great.
Small Mercedes van picked us up at our hotel and drove us to Pompeii.
Very nice driver drove us back to our hotel after the tour.

Transportation was on time and comfortable. Our tour guide Zaza was very knowledgeable and provided insight as a third generation tour guide at Pompeii. Immensely enjoyable and informative.

Our tour guide was wonderful and Pompeii is amazing. Only possible downside was the taxi on the way there (almost our whole bus got sick) and then the 3 hour return tax (pompeii to Positano). The 4 hours was really like 7.5 hours.

Our guide, Sasa, was fabulous! He was knowledgeable, patient and very passionate about the ruins. He clearly painted a picture of what life was like pre and post Roman occupation but did so in an informative yet humorous way. His expert guidance made the whole experience of being in Pompeii all the more special. Grazie Sasa!!!

Sasa was an excellent guide! He was very knowledgeable and told great stories of “the way it was”. Good grief, what a great dive into history. Highly recommend the 2 hour tour. We had a little rain but that did not damper the mood one bit. THANKS SASA!!!

Francesco the tour guide was very charismatic and friendly. He was able to give us a great view into the world of Pompeii. Transportation was a bit late on the way back. Would have also like a little bit more time exploring Pompeii but overall enjoyed the tour.
