Thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would recommend to anyone wanting to try the kind of Mexican food you won’t find in Taco Bell. Enrique was our guide for the evening and he was both informative and a lot of fun. The Enchiladas de Mole poblano was truly special and worth the tour in its own. Other highlights were the fruit and veg market, street tacos and loved the Guanabana agua de frutas. Oh - and a special mention for the fried crickets too!
You also get to see parts of Playa del Carmen most tourists wouldn’t bother going to.

We were fortunate enough to have a one on one tour with Marcelo. We learnt so much about the culture and history of Mexico. The food was awesome, we highly recommend this tour.

Abby was a great guide and brought us to all the local good eats. She made sure every one of us on the tour was happy and went out of her way to accommodate everyone’s preferences and requests. Out of all of the places we stopped we loved the fruit market where we all got to pick fruit and then had it freshly washed and cut up for us to enjoy.

Different food items including some fruits I had never seen before. Also since all the places were local eateries, it gave us a better insight into local restaurants.
Abby was an amazing guide and took us to 6 different spots in the tour and provided a history of the region and also the food across the Mexican / Yucatán region. This was the first time I had mole and it was amazing.

We were skeptical about trying local restaurants and food carts on our own so we booked a food tour with Eating with Carmen. The great reviews were accurate! Fabulous food and a fabulous guide named Indy who was born and raised in Playa. We loved his enthusiasm,
knowledge of the spices and ingredients and attention to ensuring we had a great time. Make sure you go hungry so you can fit in all the tasty food! Definitely worth the price.
