There’s more to Tuscany than Florence. Leave the city behind and discover three other enchanting Tuscan destinations on this day trip to Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa. Take a guided tour of beautiful Siena, famous for its bareback horse race and the Gothic Siena Cathedral, and taste typical Tuscan food and wine during a 3-course lunch in a local winery or restaurant surrounded by picture-postcard Tuscan landscapes, where vineyards, rolling hills and olive groves will be your travel companions. Then, enjoy free time to explore San Gimignano, a picturesque medieval village, and Pisa, home to the UNESCO-listed Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The cathedral in Sienna was awesome, and the tour guide was knowledgeable without going on too long. We liked that we had time to explore on our own. Sebastian (the main guide) was also great. We did leave the tour early and took a train home from Pisa because the bus driver was horrendous. He ignored at least four stop signs, drove too fast through rain and hail, and passed cars on the left while traveling two-lane roads on a small mountain pass with wet roads. We feared for our lives and got super motion sick.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day in Tuscany. Pisa was better than we had anticipated, and we fell in love with San Gimignano. What a charming town with so many quaint shops - we just wish we had more time there! Siena was good, but we would have traded an hour there for one more in San Gimingnano. And we can't forget about the wine tasting and lunch! We had a picture-perfect sunny day, so were able to dine al fresco, surrounded by vines, in a family-run winery. The meal was delicious and it was fun to taste the wines and hear all about their individual nuances from a 13th-generation wine maker. Federica was a fabulous tour guide, and our bus driver Luigi skillfully got us where we needed to go. All in all ... a perfect day!

The guide was doing everything in three languages, so constant talking. Sienna was very interesting . The winery was very average, the wines were rough and the food was terrible and the service very poor. We did not see much of Tuscany, wish we had hired a car.

San Gimignano was really cool and the vineyard/wine tasting was amazing!! But I feel like you could do this on your own for sure. Pisa was a let down, not the fault of the tour service, but it really was just a look at the tower and you’re so tired from all the other stops that you just want to go home it’s sleep. Sienna wasn’t that fun, the church was cool but the free time there wasn’t much to do as it was morning so nothing was open except for chocolate stores in the square. San Gimignano was definitely the best of the three and it’s be more fun to do a day trip there and then stop at a winery or two or the way back to Florence.

Overall, I recommend this tour as a good way to see a decent amount of Tuscany in one long day. I also recommend choosing the lunch/wine tasting option because you will want to eat at some point so you might as well make it interesting. The whole program is very catered to tourists but I don't think that matters. It is well designed to get you to a lot of attractions in a short amount of time. I didn't feel rushed but some people might. It's a good way to get to Pisa for a short amount of time with some great views along the way.

This is an essential expedition when visiting Tuscany. The medieval towns of Siena and San Gimignano are superb and full of history. In these cities, images will be engraved in you and will enchant your memories. The stop/meal at the vineyard is pleasant and fits well into the day. These are neither the best wines nor the best meal drunk and eaten in Italy but it is still very good. Pisa… it’s Pisa. Tons of buses, vendors and tourists like us. It ends the day well and you will have it on your “check” list but only Pisa would be imperfect in our opinion.

Two negative points:
1- We purchased an English language package, we had English, Spanish and Portuguese. In the long run, it's heavy.
2- It would be nice to send instructions for the meeting place which is not so easy to find.

Finally, know that it is a long day that requires some effort to fully enjoy it. We are glad we did.

My friend and I booked a tour from the hotel. We were given a price and in the end it was more expensive than agreed. As I already knew Siena and San Giminiano, I opted for the semi-independent package which would be €68, my friend wanted to visit the Cathedral and opted for the €75 package, I gave part to the hotel, 30% of the value and they charged us at the time of the trip the value greater than the agreed value. The guide left us without the communication device and my friend to enter the Cathedral, paid separately.
We left for San Giminiano and it was agreed to meet at the bus stop at 3:30 pm. My friend was having a little difficulty getting around and when we arrived 4 minutes late the bus had already left. Some belongings had remained there. We had to call the agency and wait for the next transport at 6:00 pm. We missed the trip to Pisa and caught a ride on the other bus back to Florence. We arrived at 7:15 pm and had to wait at the bus stop until almost 8:00 pm to collect our belongings. I thank the guide Sarah and Frederica from the other bus who were very helpful. And my rejection of the guide from the previous tour Tabata, who was terrible at communicating and completely lacking patience.
I don't recommend the tour to anyone.
