Very smooth ferry. Interesting commentary. Comfy seats. What more could you ask.
On the island, the Quokkas were all over the place, so cute!

My partner and I were amazed with the beauty of Rottnest Island. I want to mention a few things that will better prepare anyone for the visit.
1-Use the Hop on Hop off bus to get around to the beaches and points of interest. Worth the cost of A$38 each.
2-Take sunscreen- the full day is in the sun with little to no shelter.
3-There are no changing rooms along the beaches. If you plan to swim or sunbathe be sure to change prior to getting on the bus.
4-Take food and water if you plan to be out for the day. There is nowhere to buy these once you get in the bus for the beaches.
5-There are bikes to rent, but, unless you’re regularly on a bike, be prepared to have tight squeezes when buses pass. We saw several people have bike accidents. There’s no first aid on the road.
6-Be sure to get off the bus at the scheduled stops. Towards the end of the route right AFTER the lighthouse stop is a point that is FANTASTIC. There is no beach so not many get off the bus to go look. This view is worth the whole trip. The coast at its best.
Rottnest is beautiful but be prepared before you go.

Sealink make it easy to get to and from Rottnest Island.
I appreciated the fact that you could not only book your ferry tickets, but even bike hire which was easily collected and dropped off again at Main Jetty on Rottnest Island.
The commentary on the way from Barrack Street Jetty to the Island was informative, and the journey itself was scenic.

We left from Perth and the captain gave us a nice commentary while on the Swan River. We changed to a sea going vessel at Fremantle to go to Rottnest. The crew on both vessels were very helpful and pleasant. Overall I would recommend this company for your visit to Rottnest Island.

Seeing the Quokkas, also seeing a small pod of dolphins playing near the jetty. The tour, the beautiful blue water and the magnificent look outs on the island.

Originally, our trip was booked on what turned out to be a very hot day forecast for Rottnest Island (RI), so we rescheduled for the only cool-ish day during our 10-day visit to WA. It cost us $14 to change the day, and took the guy on the other end of the phone a couple of seconds to make the change.
We walked from our nearby accommodation to Elizabeth Quay, however, the blue CAT bus stops right at the departure point, or there is a train station and Busport bus interchange only about five-minute walk away.
The ride across to RI was good, seats were comfortable, facilities were clean, and they even gave out free ice blocks part-way through the journey. We didn't purchase anything from the small kiosk.
Luckily, I have notifications set to my email, as we received a message about an hour before the due departure time that our return ferry would only take us to Fremantle, and buses had been organised for the rest of the journey to Elizabeth Quay. We were to catch a later ferry, which meant our return was delayed an extra 1/2 an hour. (I wondered if there weren't enough people to make the return trip to Elizabeth Quay viable.) The bus ride was pleasant enough, and we got to see parts of Perth we otherwise wouldn't have.
