This is the only cooking class in Portugal where you get to learn about pastry making with a professional pastry chef, inside a real Portuguese bakery in Lisbon!
The class starts with an introduction to the history of Pastel de Nata as well as the family-run bakery where this workshop takes place.
After you've geared up, you'll go inside the professional kitchen of our "pastelaria". This is where you will learn how to bake the irresistible Portuguese Custard Tarts everybody loves!
We will show you how to make puff pastry like the pros. Afterwards, we will make the custard from scratch and bake it all inside a professional oven. During this class we all work together as a team. Everyone will get to make at least 3 tarts by hand - laminate the dough to make puff pastry, spread it with a specific Pastel de Nata technique, fill in the custard, etc.
In the end, we'll eat the warm tarts with a cup of coffee (or another hot or cold beverage of your choice).

This was a wonderful experience. Chef João is so passionate and it could be seen through his lesson. He gave excellent tips on how to recreate at home and the place had excellent drinks during the lesson. And of course the natas were wonderful

learning how to make these wonderful dessert treats with hands on experience of every step in the process -
from making the pastry to filling the casings.
Joao made our time fun as well as educational. We really enjoyed ourselves.
Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the bakery. We needed 30 minutes to get there.

A truly unique and memorable experience. We went as a family of 6 - including grandparents and two 7 year olds - and each of us enjoued every moment of the cooking experience, which was generous, informative, patient, and engaging. We were guided step by step by a maestro of Pastel de Nata and the outcomes were outstanding …and delicious! We would thoroughly recommend!
