As you prepare takoyaki—fried balls of wheat flour batter wrapped around a chewy piece of octopus—learn how to cut the octopus down to the proper size and perfect your timing for rotating the batter in the unique, ball-shaped pan. Continue with okonomiyaki, a savory and filling pancake typically made with cabbage, flour, egg, pork belly slices and dried bonito flakes.

Yayo has been an exceptional host! She's not only incredibly kind and humorous, but also an excellent teacher. Learning how to cook Osaka's most famous dishes under her guidance was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend. I am deeply grateful for her hospitality and the lovely gifts. What an amazing experience! Not only do you get to make delicious local food, but Yayo takes the time to explain cultural significance and regional differences of all the prepared dishes, which gives a great context to the culinary culture of Osaka. She is also a great conversationalist in both English and Japanese, and I had a blast cooking up dishes and chatting with Yayo. Highly recommended experience for anyone who wants a deeper appreciation for the diverse delicacies of Osaka cuisine!

An amazing encounter with Yayo: we really learned hands-on how to prepare these beautiful dishes. Yayo had prepared the equipment and ingredients. She gave us plenty of explanations. She is incredibly welcoming and attentive. A beautiful cultural and personal encounter. Our best evening in Osaka.

Highly recommend this cooking class in Osaka. Yayo is a pleasant local and an excellent cooking instructor. It ended up being just the 2 of us on our evening which made it much more relaxing and personalised.
She opened up her home to us and instructed us through cooking some local dishes which were simply delicious.
She also added a personal touch with some souvenirs.

This was a fantastic experience! Yayo invited us into her home and helped us cook some classic Japanese recipes. She demonstrated then encouraged us to learn on the job. She provided us with the written recipes to take away as well. Eating our own cooking was great. Only six of us so there was good time for interaction and this helped make it a fun night! Highly recommend.

Amazing and highly recommended, the hosts are extremely professional and speak great English, but feels intimate and super fun at the same time. It was really insightful to see how a lot of Japanese food is made!
