This northern lights tour in Iceland takes you in an original superjeep out of town to avoid light pollution so as to observe this fascinating natural phenomenon also known as the Aurora Borealis. Given clear skies and a little bit of luck, sightings can occur from autumn to spring. The main 4X4 superjeeps are Land Rover Defenders and 6-door Ford Excursions. All are modified with big 40- or 46-inch wheels ready for the mighty challenge the tours offer every day, all year round! The jeeps are equipped with an extra fold-down step for easy accessibility, luxurious leather seats, air-conditioning, WiFi, GPS, first-aid kit, trackwell, and other sorts of security equipment. The trip was spectacular. Our driver was persistent and never gave up on seeing the best northern lights possible. He was really committed to make sure we’d have the experience of our life; not just doing a job. We ended up staying until after 1 am and it was absolutely worth it because we had the best viewing at the end. My daughters loved the superjeep. Highly recommended!

The tour guides were wonderful and very knowledgeable about the northern lights and were very patient to wait for the lights to appear the hot chocolate was delicious also

Amazing tour, our guide John was lovely and gave us lots of info. Him and Chris were determined we see the lights and were super patient and it totally paid off! And the hot chocolate was a lovely extra

We had such a great time! The tour was wonderful and although it was freezing we saw the lights! I cant remember our drivers name but he was wonderful and very personable.

Aurora didn't show herself on our first trip but we were offered a second trip free of charge on our last night, so this was our only chance of seeing her. Our guide Tomas was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He drove 40 minutes out of Reykjavik to the edge of a fjord - and this was where we saw the Northern Lights! They were incredible. Thank you Tomas.

I had a great time. I am a photography as a hobbyist and was lucky to be paired with Tomas. He is an excellent photographer and was really helpful with ideas to get my best shots of the lights. I wish we could have stayed a bit longer (not his call) but I got great views tonight and the best I got on this trip. Thank you so much!

Tour was advertised 8pm pick up-12 midnight drop off but all the drivers stayed out to enable us to see the Northern lights which appeared at around 1140pm. A wonderful experience . Nick our driver was excellent.

I appreciate that the enjoyment of a tour such as this one is dependent upon seeing the lights but in my opinion the tour is far too long (4 hours) and far too expensive (circa £500 for 3 people). Most of the time was spent driving from spot to spot in a loud and uncomfortable jeep or waiting outside in the cold. Whilst retries are offered (ours was cancelled) the chances are people would not want to spend another 4 hours on the same tour. The hot chocolate tasted like flavoured water and 4 hours is a long time to spend without water or toilet breaks. You are better off asking an experienced driver to take you to a given location for less than half the price or doing the boat tour (at least you get a boat ride). For those who do not get to see the lights in my opinion a partial refund should be offered. It is unlikely that people will make a further trip to Iceland for the sole purpose of getting their money’s worth.

Unfortunately we weren't luckily enough to see any Northern lights on our trip. And the following night was cancelled because of the poor forecast so we never got to see them. This was really disappointing as we had spent so much money on this trip. We were so disappointed.
The worst thing was that 3 large adults were squeezed into the back of a small jeep. My partner and I had to sit twisted side ways for several hours and both experienced back ache since as a result.
