We did not see any alligators, they have been buried in mud for the past 2 or 3 months. But, the swamp was beautiful and out captain was very informative and funny. So, we still enjoyed the tour.

While the weather wasn’t conducive to seeing any gators, that didn’t stop us from thoroughly enjoying the swamp tour! The scenery is fantastic, you learn a lot from your guide about the native plans and animals to the area, and we got a wee glimpse into the scenery that inspired Disney’s Princess and the Frog.

It’s a great activity if you’re in the area!

Tip: we took an Uber to the tour and counted ourselves lucky we could get one back. The driver said that’s not common. Consider taking other transportation methods.

the swamp tour was a bit of a letdown. Spent almost an hour waiting for the boat, and also the return shuttle wait was over 20 minutes, in the freezing cold area. The boat ride was super boring – the guide barely said anything interesting, just talked about cemeteries and a few plants. With a big boat, we didn’t go into any swamp, no animals, just a cold river for an hour. Not the thrilling adventure I was hoping for. Definitely book for airboat and probably not go during December

This is a boat tour in a river for an hour with 0 wildlife involved. Super boring. Waste of time. Tons of people.

Swamp and Bayou Sightseeing Boat Tour with Transportation from New Orleans

New Orleans

Don’t Waste Your Money!!

This was a very disappointing tour mainly because the Captain did not engage the people on this tour in any way, provide information on any of the trees, water or wildlife in the swamp (although we saw none) or make this ride enjoyable in any way. I couldn't wait to get off the boat.

Since it’s December, I wasn’t expecting to see alligators. However, for $130, I was expecting a tour billed as a guided tour to have commentary about the swamp and its life! The Captain didn’t say anything to us and just played recorded music

Our bus driver to the swamp, Alton, provided more commentary and enjoyment on his ride. For $130 we expected at least a fun ride even if there were no alligators!

Boring. A long time. No gators. Cold. Long bus ride. Wait. Get on boat. Ride boat. Flat water. Nothing to see. Seven other boats all doing the same thing around you.

We booked this tour as it was promoted as a tour in which we could see wildlife such as alligators , raccoons etc. When we boarded the tour bus we were told that alligators had not been seen for over 2 months and that we may see a few birds . When we arrived at the tour departure point our boat followed out behind 2 noisy air boats for the entire journey . The commentary in the boat was about the guides children , their pets and how he likes his shrimp cooked . We were very disappointed in the whole experience and felt the tour had been misadvertised as we would never have booked it if we had known that the alligators had been in hibernation for the past 2 months or that we were following behind noisy airboats for the entire 2 hours . Their tour information needs to reflect this so that other unsuspecting tourists who don’t live in this part of the world do not book a wildlife tour when there is zero chance of seeing anything . When your time in New Orleans is short you don’t want to be wasting time on tours that are not what they are advertised to be .

Excellent tour. It’s fascinating to be on the bayou and see how it lives. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Really glad we did this and fully recommend it to others.

Extremely disappointing. Was very boring, lack of wild life and the feel of not being on a Disney World ride.

The captain of the boat new a lot about the Bayou. Sadly we did not get to see any wildlife other than 1 brown pelican and some other birds. Apparently the water is too salty for alligators so they are all buried in the mud. A bit disappointed that this was not mentioned at booking. The Bayou it’s self is lovely and I did enjoy the boat trip.
