Great tour from Ursula and bus driver Smiley. She kept things moving and had a great knowledge of history. Her hints on the best way to climb to the castle were spot on.

The bus was top notch, every person had a window view. The tour guide Deisy was lovely and the bus driver was great, loved the German stout he gave at the end of a long day. The climb to Neuschwanstein was definitely worth it if you can manage it. I will say I wish we had been given vouchers for the little bus or horse carriage to Neuschwanstein, however, at least for people who were not able to make the trek up. I'd think the VIP tour would include that. The VIP tour was worth it though as the group was small and the bus very comfortable.

We loved Deyse and our driver. Smaller coach…roomy. Great trip! All bases covered. The climb up to the mountain was invigorating but not for everyone. Enjoy!

📆 May 10, 2024, we went to three places. I was only expecting 2. Linderhof Castle 1st. Oberamergau 2nd (unexpected at time of booking). Neuschwanstein 3rd.

👉🏻 I’m from the USA. 🇺🇸 I found the meeting place the day before & I recommend you do the same. Be 20-30 minutes early. There are several buses. 🚌 It will take you a few minutes to find yours. Our bus left at 8:16 for an 8:30 AM tour. We also got back to Munich 15 minutes early.

⚠️ This tour is fast-paced, but you get to see SO MUCH. If you are not able-bodied, you may struggle.

🪟Look into the lower level windows at Castle Linderhof for bonus views!

🍦The ice cream in Oberamergau is excellent. Eat while you walk and look at the cuckoo clocks in the shops. Window shop or go inside!

🥗 Pack your lunch or buy one quickly upon arrival at Neuschwanstein Castle. We barely had time for The Bridge. If you want to get on the bridge and take pictures, take the first bus up and get in line. Eat your lunch as you wait to get on the bridge. 30 minute wait for the bridge on May 10! 😳 It’s worth the wait! The view is breathtaking. 💯

⏰ It really takes 15 minutes to walk back down from Neuschwanstein Castle. It’s steep. If you need to take it easy, take the bus. I walked. No regrets. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

🥰 Castle Neuschwanstein has more than one exit. Ask the gift shop which one goes to the courtyard for photo opportunities. I did not ask, so I went out the wrong door and missed out on the extra photos. JUST ASK at the gift shop. Taking the wrong exit is my only regret on this tour.

📚Buy a souvenir book with pictures from the castle. You will go through the rooms quickly with a guide from the Castle (not the bus tour guide). Don’t expect to look in the Castle for as long as you like. It’s just enough. But, please know the books are available too. I bought one. Don’t take pictures in the castle.

🎒Ok to bring your backpack and leave it in the bus when needed. Backpack worn front-wise is also ok on tours.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 100% excellent tour. Thank you Deyse (tour guide)!

I was worried that the meeting point would be hard to find since I've been on day tours in other cities where the meeting point was a little vague. But the meeting point was very easy: just go to the Buddy Hotel, look for all the parked Gray Line Tour busses, and ask which bus is yours. Be careful you get on the correct bus- when we asked someone which bus was ours, he pointed to the third bus. But the first bus was labeled "VIP Tour", which was the correct one.

The guide was Monica and the driver was Vlad. Before we started, Vlad offered us coffee or tea. Monica was very knowledgeable about German and Bavarian history and gave us a lot of great information.
Yes, this tour is a little more expensive than the regular tour, but it includes admission to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein castles, so there's no worrying if you'll get an admission time. Also, since all of the people on this tour showed up early, our bus left 1/2 an hour before the other busses, so we were some of the first people to arrive at Linderhof castle.

Keep in mind that there is a LOT of walking on the tour, from walking to the castles, to walking in the castles, and then walking back to the bus.
When you go to Neuschwanstein Castle, I highly recommend taking a shuttle bus up to the Marien bridge and then walking down to the castle. It may be the same amount of time to walk up or to wait and take a bus, but your feet will thank you if you take the bus.
We had enough time to grab some lunch (but not really enough time to sit down and eat), then take the shuttle bus up, walk around, and then it was time for our tour of the interior. Like Monica mentioned a few times, you get one entry time for Neuschwanstein Castle, and if you miss it, you can't go in at all.

When we all got back from touring Neuschwanstein Castle and we got on the bus, the driver said that's time for a beer. Yes, he's right- when we get back to Munich, we'll go to a beer hall.
Then he gave us an Augustiner beer! Then he said there were fruits and snacks available!
Like he joked, people are coming back tired and cranky, but they cheer up when given a beer.
