This was our very favorite trip of our vacation in Germany. Aside from the castles and grounds, the scenery was absolutely beautiful- an incredible view of Bavaria! I highly recommend the VIP tour; the coach was very comfortable and the service was great. Debbie was our guide and just the ABSOLUTE best - incredibly kind, personable and knowledgeable! Our driver Vladi (spelling is probably incorrect) was also our host and served us drinks and snacks at every stop. It was really just the BEST day!

Ursula is we truly delightful and had so much information to share on King Ludwig. She really changed our perspective on this historical king.
The bus is extremely nice. My power outlet didn’t work but I didn’t discover that until the end of the tour—you might bring an external battery pack to be safe. Frankly I didn’t have much time to be on my phone with all of the beautiful sights.
I do suggest eating a nice breakfast before you depart. Lunch was about 2 for us (the bus parked about 1 but it takes time to get up the mountain and to order your food). There are snacks on the bus and coffee. There was even a bathroom.
Not related to the tour directly, but there is absolutely no photography inside either castle. This is militantly enforced by the castle attendants. One additional note on Neuschwanstein: it is a physically demanding trek up the mountain. There are horse and carriages (about €8 per person) but the queue is quite long and it will cut into your time to eat. Also, the first restroom when you get off the bus is a trap. Wait until you get to the restaurant if you can, otherwise you’ll burn 30 minutes for something that won’t require a wait at all if you can hold for the restaurant :-)

Excellent day seeing the castles and also looking around some of the village shops. The bus was very comfortable and the host was knowledgeable and friendly.
Take good walking shoes and be prepared to walk if you choose not to take the horse and carriage up the mountain. There are also a lot of stairs to climb inside the castle .

A great day with a wonderful and knowledgable guide and skilled bus driver. The palace and castle were spectacular. However, no one warned us about the from bus to castle. It was incredibly steep. If you have walking issues or heart or breathing conditions beware.

Great guide, FULL day, very nice bus with food and drink. It was cold and snowy which required us to walk up to the castle. LONG, hard trek. If you have mobility problems, check the weather before going. One couple wasn’t up for it physically and I know they were disappointed. Would recommend highly

We had the best time on this tour! The guide was wonderful and knowledgeable. We loved each stop during the tour. Both castles were amazing to see in person. The small town we stopped in, I was able to purchase a Cuckoo clock. Every time I look at it, I will think of this wonderful day!

We did the day tour of this castle and one other. The guided tours were quite fast. We didn’t feel like we got a lot of historical information while there, unlike other tours we’ve taken.

The guide was amazing. I took another tour the next day - Salzburg and the lakes - and it was awful. It couldn’t come close to comparing to this one!
