After meeting your expert guide, your small group will bypass the general admissions line to enter the museum’s magnificent collections. You will begin your crash course by learning about the salons of Paris in the 19th century which determined the “quality” of an artist’s work. Once you have a strong base in what the elite were looking for in art, you will learn about one of the first rebels in the museum, Manet. Then, head upstairs with your guide to explore the impressionist collection, housing works of art by artists like Monet, Renoir, Degas, Valadon, and Lautrec. See how these artists fed off of each other; whilst being outsiders and miscreants of the elite art scene at the time. Finally, you will learn about the tragic life of Van Gogh through an analysis of his most famous paintings. To allow you the chance to explore more of the museum on your own, you will finish in the post-impressionism wing, allowing you to explore more or exit the museum.

Another amazing tour with Violette. Wonderful day visiting the Louve and Orsay museums. Amazing tour of the key pieces in the Louve with commentary and stories of the pieces, artists and history. Orsay equally amazing visit. Whether you are an art enthusiast or simply looking to learn about some of the world’s most famous art Fat Cat Tours has you covered. Every detail considered, tricks to beat the crowds and great recommendations for experiencing Paris. We were able to enjoy perfect museum visits and a lovely lunch at our guides recommendation. My daughter and I signed up for the Impressionists and Beyond Small Group tour at the Musee D'Orsay tour last week and were fortunate enough to have guide Amehd all to ourselves. He was deeply knowledgeable about both history and art, having multiple post-graduate degrees in both. Amehd (who is a native English speaker but has lived in Paris for many many years) charted a terrific path through the museum that helped bring to life the cultural and historical contexts surrounding the rise of Impressionism to life for my 15 year old daughter. The scandals! The controversies! The Establishment vs newcomers! His ability to combine historical knowledge with excellent storytelling were second to none. She was rapt the entire time (and thats saying alot for a 15 year old girl). Amehd also took the care to listen to some of the questions we asked and tailor the tour to include artists that we were particularly interested in, with equally rich commentary around those 'unplanned' stops. I couldnt recommend this tour--and Amehd specifically-- more highly. THANK YOU AMEHD: you were truly a highlight of Tenley and my trip!

Adam, our guide at the Musée d'Orsay, took us on a journey into the exciting world of painting. We really appreciated his availability to give us the tour entirely in French, his interactive way of sharing with us his passion for art history, embellished with funny anecdotes that made us smile.
I 100% recommend this tour, plus the next ones we will probably do together.

Violette was an excellent guide for my first time at the Orsay. She picked out the perfect amount of paintings during our 2 hours together with my favorites being Dante et Virgile by Bouguereau and Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe by Monet. Her delivery was both informative and charismatic!
