Explore three famous islands in the Venice Lagoon--Murano, Torcello and Burano--on a half-day sightseeing excursion by motorboat. You'll stop at a blown glass factory on Murano, visit Venice's first cathedral on the peaceful island of Torcello, and shop for handcrafted lace on Burano. This morning or afternoon tour is an excellent introduction to the magical islands surrounding the medieval city of Venice and its enclosed bay in the Adriatic Sea.
Deaprtures every day from San Marco Giardinetti or Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station (departure time is set 30 minutes before the indicated departure time)

Best value - especially for a family
Of 5 - with 3 teens. You get what you pay for and we took the 1230 tour - do not go later - as when the sun sets there’s nothing to see . Boat was completely full and they do the lecture in 4 languages- one after another - the tour guide was amazing ! But the rude, loud families (Italians) were all ‘sheesh’ multiple times but didn’t care and drown out the tour guide.
But all-in-all. Best value . So understand the crowd it draws .

Upon booking Venice, we realised how many islands actually surrounded Venice and we knew that if it was possible, we had to check them out. So, we did some research and found that there were tours of each island happening from the docks not far from our hotel. However, as we had left it quite late, most of the tours had sold out before we had an opportunity to book them.
Then we found this tour.
Not only was it affordable, it made good for time, only taking up about four hours of the day so that we could still explore and make the most of our short trip to Venice. Originally, it seemed like we wouldn't have enough time to look around, and while more time would have been nice, fifty minutes was a plentiful amount to search each island and explore.
The boat ride to each island was provided with a tour, with both English and Italian translations, in which we were taught about the islands we were passing and their history. Although it was a bit hard to hear over the chatter, it was still interesting to learn about.
On the first island, we were immediately taken to watch the art of glass making, an impressive, yet hot technique of making glass. It was interesting to watch how it was done and we were then shown a room full of glass art that was available for sale. While it was out of my price range, I could appreciate the beauty and talent of each piece. Due to the demonstration, we were given less time to explore, but plenty of time to take a look around and buy a snack if need be.
Our second island was a lot quieter and it felt as if less people lived there, but it was still a breathtaking sight. We walked along the water, passing restaurants and vendors, until we found some kind of historical building. Due to our time frame, we were unable to explore much, but we managed to take in the sights and even watched an accordion player.
Burano was one of my favourite places visited on the trip. A beautiful and colourful island indeed. We were dropped off and left to explore the rainbow and it was absolutely gorgeous, full of vibrant colours. Each building seemed to be some kind of shop, mostly selling jewellery or artwork, each beautiful to look at - we were even able to spot a cat. Before leaving the island, we managed to find a bit of shade under a tree to relax and keep out of the sun before moving on.
By the time we arrived back to Venice, we had definitely felt we had seen and learnt a lot about the islands off of Venice. For the price of the tour, I highly recommend it, as you get to not only visit each island, but you learn about them at the same time.

Unlike every other tour I took in Italy there was no guide at the organizing point. So even though I arrived an hour early I missed the scheduled tour by 3 minutes. There was another gentleman who also found himself in the same predicament. The glass blowing demonstration was so crowded I could only see the backs of the people in front of me. I honestly was thinking about finding a way to just quit the tour at that point. Instead I stuck it out. I would not recommend these stops/sites to anyone.

Meeting instructions are misleading in my opinion. I arrived 15 min early as stated and expected a guide to greet us or at least yell at us to go someplace. We were apparently supposed to grab tickets on our own and board on our own, rather than waiting where it is specified in the info you get after booking. Asked for a refund and got denied without even a proper convo. I’m sure the trip itself is lovely but I’ll never know. Left a bad taste in my mouth how things were handled. The tour operators were accommodating and we used the money for something else but the customer service of Viator itself was disappointing.
