If you are in this area of Italy then Mt Vesuvius is a must. It's a bit of a strain to walk up, but highly recommended. The views are wonderful and well worth doing. Highly recommended.

Vesuvius was closed they said the day before our excursion was going to take place. We could cancel the whole trip or we could go to pompei and climb Vesuvius spending some time on the top of some viewpoints. We were picked up at 10. Were at Pompeii at 11. Had our tour. Lunch. Drove to the entrance of the park where we had a stop. Nothing to see there. Went back. Half way back another stop at the viewpoint. That was all. This was very little of what they promised or suggested. Only the entrance fee will be returned. My advice. Low season: take the train and get your guide. This adds no value at all. Now we spent from 10-16:30 just for two hours Pompeii. They should have dropped the whole afternoon program. Or give us the option choosing only Pompeii and be clear. Be precise! Now they suggested more than they could offer

We had a fabulous tour guide at Pompei who was wonderful with both kids and adults - it’s an amazing spot - hard to believe it was a city of 20k people

This is a long trip. Mr Vesuvius park is currently closed so after several hours of riding in a bus, all we got was a 5 minute view.

My husband and I enjoyed this tour our tour guide in Pompeii was amazing he was very knowledgeable and took us to the most important areas in Pompeii. Unfortunately Mt. Vesuvius was closed due to a land slide but we were still able to have lunch with a breath taking view as well as our entry tickets were refunded.

Our tour was wonderful. I wouldn't go to Pompeii without a tour guide. She took us to all the spots and navagated the crowds very efficiently. The lunch was good but the pizza was the poor mans version of what the regular restaurant patrons received. It had no meat or Basil on it.
Mt Vesuvius was a bit dissappointing because the weather turned bad and we had lots of clouds and rain come in. We opted not to hike to the rim of the volcano.
A note about Mt Vesuvius. Its full of litter and trashy souvenier stands. The bathrooms are only available in a little run down store and you have to buy something to use them. The owner tried to get my husband to buy a $20 bottle of alcohol to use the bathroom.

Great tour. We really needed more time at Mt. Vesuvius. Folks did not have time to get to the end of the trail and get back without power walking, which is not a reasonable option on the steep inclines.

The local operator for this tour was very rude. Our ship was delayed by weather docking so the local operator said we had to show up for a half day tour or forfeit our payment. We would have preferred to cancel as the part we were missing was the part we cared about. We had been to Pompeii before and really only cared about Mt. Vesuvius and the Naples pizza lunch.
