On this 6hour nature adventure you will see all the stunning beauty of the Arenal area. It doesn't come easy though. Narrow jungle trails and huge lava rocks need to be conquered. The reward is definitely worth the effort. Getting out of the jungle you reach the lava rocks right at the foot of the volcano. With the impressive Arenal looming over you, you realy get an idea of the immensity of this now silent giant. Making our way down your bilingual guide tells about the eco system and the wildlife we may encounter.
Reaching the bottom part of the trek a emerald green clean water lake awaits us. You can jump in with a Tarzan swing and take time for a refreshing swim in this magnificently beautiful place. After this break we have a typical style lunch. To finish our experience we go to a small resort where we relax in natural hot water pools for about an hour.

Erroll was a terrific guide, very informative and helpful. The views were spectacular. The hike was a bit of a challenge for a couple in their sixties, but well worth it.

This is the second tour by Red Lava I went. I previously went to the full day tour. The description of itinerary and what are included were different between 2 tours. While the full day tour stated Mirador El Silencio, this one said 'Rainforest Reserve'. While the full day tour listed hot spring entrance fee, this one didn't. Therefore, I assumed we were going to a different nature reserve and a free hotspring for this one. It turned out we also went Silencio and walked identical route, except one part. We went to the same hot spring. Although I still enjoyed it for the second time, I would have picked a different tour to see different places.
I wish they listed the places to visit clearly, using the same description if they are the same reserve and hotspring.

Had an amazing day, our guide was very knowledge, funny and not pushy with hiking to base of Arenal volcano.
Saw some cool animals and scenery was beautiful.
Lunch was great value for money and delicious
Hot Springs goid selection of pools and temperatures.

Outstanding hike to the area around Mt. Arenal. We had a large group and they split us into 2 groups making it much easier and very enjoyable. Tour leaders were knowledgeable friendly and very patient and accommodating.. Carlos was wonderful and i got my wish to spot toucans!!! Lunch was great, well prepped and on time. The hot springs were fantastic!!! A great day with great memories.

Just incredible service all around. All of their tour guides are extremely friendly. As far as the office, they have English speakers and are so accommodating. They made a mistake in our booking and when we showed up at the office unannounced, within an hour they had arranged a van and private tour for us. Very friendly people and great value for the price.
Considering this tour specifically, such good value for the price. For $50 you get transportation, entry to the volcano Arenal park, entry to the hot spring, and lunch. Every other option that included all of that was well over $120. I loved our tour guide. My friends and I loved our experience I think it was my favorite part!

The tour is definitely worth the money.
You hike on the Silencio Trails, a total of about 3 km. First we walked uphill towards the lava fields and back the same way, then through a forest where Kathleen was able to show us some animals and plants (birds, snakes, howler monkeys, toads, frogs). I deducted points because I asked beforehand whether the path was steep due to a knee problem. I was assured that it was an easy hike with a few ascents and descents. In fact, some of the paths were really steep and you had to climb some stairs (especially downhill) and climb up and down rocks, which can be a real problem for people with knee problems and was for me.
The lunch, on the other hand, was good, there were a few dishes to choose from, including vegetarian and vegan ones.
I was pleasantly surprised by the hot springs. It was quite busy, but it was a nice complex with various pools.

Our guide, Chino, was very knowledgeable and made the trip so much fun. We saw howler monkeys and several native snakes- even the eyelash viper! The hike up the side of the volcano was absolutely beautiful! It was well worth the cost. Lunch was decent as well!

Juan Carlos, the walk guide, spectacular. Super informed and thorough in his explanations about the flora and fauna. He even brought a powerful vinolucar to show us animals he found along the way. Jonathan and José, the zip line (canopy) and rappelling guys, were divine, and very well prepared for everything. I only gave it 3 stars because of the administration girl (who I prefer not to say her name so as not to expose her) who scheduled me for a time and the van arrived 30 minutes late. The problem was not only the delay but that I called her at the agreed time and she told me that they would arrive in 10 minutes, clearly a lie. When the van came I found out that neither the guide nor the driver were aware of my presence on the tour. What's more, they had already started it and had seen one point of the tour without my presence or that of my girlfriend. I recommend 100% to the people who provide the services, not to the Red Lava agency.
