Start the day in the lap of luxury with a fast-ferry ride from Hobart in the Posh Pit section (ft. canapés and complimentary beverages.

On arrival at Mona you’ll launch into some self-guided roaming of the museum and grounds, before a mid-morning private stroll to the Moorilla vineyard - hosted by one of Moorilla’s wine-nerds - and a comprehensive tasting of their range (Praxis, Muse, Cloth Label) in their deluxe underground wine bunker.

Then it’s off to a seasonal, locally sourced lunch in one of Mona’s restaurants (featuring Moorilla's wines), and then an afternoon
of further museum-exploration (or on-site bar-hopping, it’s up to you).

Once you’re spent, you’ll hop back on the late-afternoon ferry back to Hobart, for further Posh Pit action (more complimentary booze and dessert
canapés, if you’ve got any room left) and relaxation. You’ll receive a bottle of Muse or Praxis wine to take home, as well as a 15% discount on any purchases made from the cellar door on the day.

Such an out -of-it experience and OTT! Definitely worthwhile ... Maybe not for kids as some kinky erotic stuff. Only downer was hard to work out if you had missed seeing things .... Oh and inequitable there isn't a penis wall, js! ?

We took the posh tour from the ferry to the gallery which was a fantastic start to our day. Champagne and snacks was great way to start our journey.

First of all, you will need at least 4 hours to get through the museum. Make sure you make appropriate time to visit. The grounds outside are amazing as well as the multi level internal sections.

This is a total feast on all senses which at times is mesmerising. I need to come back again (and again) to take in more inputs as my mind was completely blown with all the new imagery and emotions crammed into my head.

I was blown away by this museum. Given the private owner didn't have any political or religious intervention, this goes places you rarely see in a museum (at times controversial) and is totally worth immersing yourself in a visit.

This is a MUST visit when in Hobart.

If you visit Hobart and you are interested in art, MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) is a must. The museum houses the private collection of ancient, modern and contemporary art from David Walsh, an eccentric millionaire. Reading about how and why the museum has been established gives you already an indication of what you can expect at MONA. You reach the museum, which is located on the Berriedale peninsula in Hobart, via a ferry which is already very arty. Another exciting element of the visit is the architecture of the museum buildings and outside area which provide a perfect presentation of the pieces of art. Due to the variety of art in David Walsh’s collection, you easily can spend hours without getting bored. As a highly recommendable break, we also did the 5-course lunch with music and performance at Faro - absolutely worth its price if you enjoy nice food in this atmosphere. Visiting Mona added definitely a great experience to our Hobart trip

Cannot wait to return. As a visitor you should allow a whole day to explore the MONA and even then you may need to return!

There are three areas to eat in - for the kids a burgers/fish n chips place - DUBSY's on the Mona Lawns, the degustation offerings (Faro Bar and Restaurant) and the Moorilla Wine Bar. Four if you do the Cellar Door with is a tasting of the wines from Moorilla - the winery at Mona. The standard of food and wine is high so you will not be disappointed.

The artwork is incredibly broad and deep from contemporary styles through to renaissance pieces; confronting skinned kitten piece and what happens if you die via lethal injection. All this and more. Best to go with an open mind.

I had the most delicious goats chees tart and glass of wine at the Moorilla Wine Bar. Exceptional.

Wasn’t warned that I would be viewing beastiality pornography, they should put that in a separate room for those that would like to subject their eyes to that. The “art” in this exhibit is definitely “abstract,” I wouldn’t recommend or ever return. They charge $30 to view things I could’ve whipped up myself. Overpriced, underwhelming and at times traumatic.

Amazing journey over to Mona in the Posh Pit the Mona experience was interesting I have never been to a place that challenged me is so many ways. The thought provoking artwork some I loved and some I hated. Also I was left tired after because I had to see it all. Thanks I have have never been challenged like that in my life.

This is the second time we have been to the Mona in Hobart and will not be the last. WE travelled by their ferry in the Posh Pit section of the craft. Just excellent and the experience just got better as the day progressed. This would be the number one attraction in Tasmania if not Australia. Just do it.
