1. Montana de Montserrat
The Rocky Massif of Montserrat has been declared as Natural Park in 1987, and characterised by the rounded shape of its peaks. This incredible 4000-foot wonder is easily recognizable by its ''serrated'' top from which it got his name. Once you reach the monastery, you have plenty of options and your guide will always adjust to your interests. We invite you to take an easy walk of around 30 min to enjoy one of the most astonishing views of the natural park, but if you wish you can also decide to enjoy other activities that the mountain offers.
2. Abadia de Montserrat
Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, a poly chrome Romanesque carving dating from the 12th century. The legend says that in the year 880 some shepherd boys found a statue of the black madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site that soon became a place of pilgrimage.

Decide with your small group of 8 pax if you want to enjoy a ride in the rack railway that will bring you at the top of the holy mountain. Enjoy astonishing views along the way.
4. Sant Jeroni
Reach the peak of the holy mountain to enjoy a bird's eye view of the entire Montserrat Monastery and of the natural park. On clear days, you will enjoy uninterrupted views of the whole of Catalunya.
5. Aeri de Montserrat
If you skipped the funicular, you can enjoy the cable car, a breathtaking journey over the Llobregat River and Valley, up the mountain and right up to Montserrat Monastery. The cable car first started running in 1930. It travels at a speed of 5 metres per second and at a gradient of up to 45%. This is a trip that is not for the faint heart - you will be travelling 1350 metres up the mountain in a small hanging car! However, if you are not afraid of heights, you will be in for a really memorable and rewarding experience.
6. Montserrat Museum
If you wish, you can also decide to visit the Montserrat museum. It has an important section of early paintings, spanning the 13th to the 18th centuries, with works by El Greco, Caravaggio as well as a large collection of Catalan paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries that includes major names such as Fortuny, Rusiñol, Casas, Picasso and Dalí but also of French impressionism such as Chagall, Braque, Le Corbusier, Miró, Dalí and Picasso.

Our tour guide, Ramon, was excellent. The tour started the moment we got in the car as he pointed out various sites along the way and in the distance. His knowledge and his passion for Montserrat was extraordinary. We were also able to hear the Boys Choir.

All aspects of the monastery tour were very memorable and interesting. Alba was pleasant, fun and quite knowledgeable. Unbelievable hail storm was a unique experience.

Javi made the best use of our time at the abbey. He handled the challenge of an unexpected hail storm very well. He had us take the train down rather then be drenched in the rain.

I'm giving this 5 stars, not because the day was great, but because our driver/guide Carlos was so exceptional. Unfortunately, Mother Nature greeted us with torrential downpours for much of this outing, not allowing us what would have been awesome views of Montserrat. There was quite a bit that we couldn't experience, but Carlos' personality still made it an enjoyable day. He had all 8 of us in the group introduce ourselves and gave us all cute nicknames related to our real names. He was an excellent driver in very difficult weather, and made decisions on the fly in relation to the conditions at the time. He had lots of info about the history of Montserrat and the monastery, and he engaged with us throughout the visit. I've been with many tour guides over the years, and he ranks very highly.
