This was an absolute highlight of our first visit to New Zealand. Our host was informative and entertaining. Everything was so well organised, we enjoyed the serious cultural experience and loved the humour shared through the cultural stories and displays.
The meal was amazing and there certainly was plenty to go round. Well worth attending.

The ambiance. The knowledge and kindness of the ceremony master. The kai (food). ALL was amazing !
It’s a great way to connect with Māori culture if you don’t know anything about it.

I booked the evening a few days in advance with pick-up and was able to choose a pick-up location from a list. On the day itself, I wasn't picked up because the location was apparently inconvenient, which makes no sense as the location was right between the venue and most of the other hotels on offer and was offered by the organizer itself. I couldn't get there without being picked up as public transport and a walk would have taken too long and I would have missed everything otherwise. After a long unsuccessful discussion with the organizer, I took a cab. The event itself was purely a tourist event with radio music, potatos and chocolate cake. Not very traditional in its implementation, but the show and the location at least gave a little insight into Maori culture, and the staff on site were all very friendly. But I wouldn't recommend it. Especially not if you want to rely on arrangements that have been booked and paid for in advance.

What an amazing insight into Moari village life and culture! Highlight for me was the Haka and dancing. I’m glad our chief came in peace.

The experience was really good, but not as good as it was when we came 10 years ago... Would have been great to experience the tribe greeting.

We were very disappointed with our experience and hope this helps others. We are travelling as part of a family group and were unable to sit together. We were not made aware when booking there are multiple rooms.
There are 3 different rooms/tours with hundreds of people in them with the same dinner running concurrently. The timings are different and the very large groups swap over as they cycle you through the different parts.
We spoke to multiple staff about sitting with our family in one of the other rooms and were just told it was too bad. We did not feel they tried to help us. We were also advised this happens all the time by multiple staff. There were also couples who were not able to sit together at the tables and you are really packed in.
WARNING - If you book separately and want to be seated together with friends/family you have to state this in the notes section (although there is no way to know this).
