This tour was excellent! Our guide, Edgar went above and beyond to find widelife to observe and to explain about the areas plants and history. It was a very memorable experience and we were glad to have Edgar be our guide of the small group. Edgar helped us take pictures and videos once widelife was detected so our memories could be shared with friends and family back home. Highly recommend!

Getting a guide for your tour is the best way to go. You will see more wildlife. We saw monkeys and snakes and lots of other animals. There is a restaurant's on the property for lunch.

The place is very well run and maintained. Parking is super easy and free. The hanging bridges are similar to zip lines without the exciting adrenaline rush, you do one, its cool and by the 6th one you realize they are all about the same. The park is a circular path thru a jungle with a lot of hanging bridges to cross. There are a ton of guides giving tours to groups with up to 50 people and they hold up the path when they spot something. They should ask the people in the tour to move to one side so the non-tour people can pass. The first hanging bridge was all backed up with everyone taking selfies, but by the time you get to the 5th bridge there is no line at all and by the last bridge we were alone on it. Doing these hanging bridges was ok, but I dont need to do this again.

Guided your was totally worth it. We saw a bunch of animals that we would have otherwise never have seen. He genuinely loved his job and the nature that surrounded him. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Great visit with a top guide Bernardo!
Not too many animals but because we arrived a little late.
Favor visits very early if you have the choice

Very pleasant shaded walk. The bridges give you great vistas and we got to see lots of exotic animals in their natural habitat. Totally appropriate for our kids age 5 and 7. Definitely do the guided tour!

We did expect an overpriced unspectacular little park to serve as a gap filler in our 3 week costa rica journey. but you know what: we had the most amazing 3 hours with our guide Jose (he said we could also call him Johannes or John :D ) He was fun and had so much wildlife to show us. He really knows his stuff and shared a lot of his knowledge with us. We originally booked only the self guided tour, but since the price difference was only 8 dollars per person we shorthandedly decided to upgrade to a guided tour. Best decision we made that day :) We were here end of april which is nearly off season...the park was not crowded and our group was only 5 people large. I guess that also added to our positive experience.

The paths are manageable, if steep in places. The bridges are exciting. Our guide was knowledgeable, communicated clearly, and was an expert with his telephoto camera. We were a group of 11, ranging in age from 14 to 77. We all had fun.

We loved this so much. I absolutely recommend going with a guide if you’re hoping to see animals; there are so many odd hiding spots (bats under leaves!) and we never would have known how to find them (or honestly, even spotted them if we knew where to look) without help. Roberto had so much fun information about the rainforest and the animals; it was a really amazing few hours. The guides also have scopes so you can see the animals up close, and can help you take pictures through them! We saw spider monkeys, coatis, howler monkeys, a toucan, several birds, a very large black toad, strawberry poison dart frog, snakes…and the little fruit bats hiding under a leaf!

It does sound like we were lucky- normally the best times to go are early in the morning (6-8am) or after 3pm. But even if there’s not much animal activity, the rainforest is gorgeous, and the hanging bridges make for beautiful views. Definitely wear sturdy shoes for the long circuit - it can be hilly - but the paths are well paved, and we saw several families with small children. (There are also strollers and electric scooters to rent for mobility purposes, although I’m not sure all of those are allowed over the bridges.)

The exit of the paths opens onto an amazing view of the Arenal Volcano. We didn’t try the restaurant, but it looks like it has a beautiful view of the volcano and the scenery.

Absolutely amazing experience, not to be missed.
