1. Lake Wakatipu
Start your day by meeting our friendly local guide at or near your Queenstown accommodation. You'll travel in style in a premium Mercedes van designed for touring with only 16 seats onboard. The first leg of our journey to Milford Sound transports you from Queenstown through the picturesque Southland farming country and the charming town of Te Anau, where we'll make a brief stop by the lakeside for refreshments.
2. Lake Te Anau
Lake Te Anau is in the southwestern corner of the South Island of New Zealand. The lake covers an area of 344 km², making it the second-largest lake by surface area in New Zealand and the largest in the South Island. It is the largest lake in Australasia by fresh water volume.
3. Fiordland National Park (Te Wahipounamu)
From here, we welcome you to the Fiordland National Park and the renowned Milford Road. This corridor to the fjord unveils a different side of New Zealand, with its majestic mountains, winding rivers, and the cheeky Kea bird. Throughout the journey, your guide will make multiple stops for photo opportunities, and short walks, and will entertain you with fascinating local facts and stories.
4. Eglinton Valley
Within the Eglinton Valley you’ll also find the famous Mirror Lakes and Knobs Flat.
5. Mirror Lakes Walk
Enjoy a beautiful short nature walk and view the famous Mirror Lakes
6. Homer Tunnel
The Homer Tunnel is a 1.2 km long road tunnel in the Fiordland region of the South Island of New Zealand, opened in 1953. New Zealand State Highway 94 passes through the tunnel, linking Milford Sound to Te Anau and Queenstown, by piercing the Darran Mountain range at the Homer Saddle
7. Milford Sound
Upon reaching Milford Sound, embark on a 2 hour nature cruise that takes you beneath the towering peaks of the fjord. This small boat cruise, accompanied by a knowledgeable onboard nature guide, allows you to explore the edges of the fjord, revealing its impressive waterfalls and unique wildlife, which may include dolphins, penguins, fur seals, and native birdlife.

After your cruise, you will be introduced to your pilot, who will take you to the skies on a truly incredible scenic flight back to Queenstown. Travelling on a fixed-wing plane, this flight is approximately 45 minutes and offers aerial views of Milford Sound and Queenstown, alongwith the impressive snow-capped mountains, glaciers and braided rivers in between.
9. Queenstown
Arrive back in Queenstown and be transferred back to your meeting point by the flight company

What an amazing trip. Our tour guide was Nev – who was super nice and knowledgeable. He did such an amazing job showing us all the sights on the way to Milford Sound – the highlight was seeing alpine parrots! Then there was Milford sound which was stunning and breathtaking. Our guide Sinchan was right, Milford Sound scenery is "primeval" in a good way: giant cliffs wreathed in mist, seals, penguin, kea birds. Small group works really well.

Amazing. The flight back, so worth it. Also, I think it is worth it going by van an then coming back by plane, so you can see both perspectives of the way.

We took a tour with Erik and it was an amazing experience! He was incredibly knowledgeable, as well as being kind, conscientious, fun and enthusiastic! And of course the sights and sounds were spectacular! Waterfalls, seals, glaciers and so much more. It was a beautiful day from start to finish.

Erik, our guide, was amazing. He was fun. He was super informative of the area and history. He made great stops along the way.
The Milford cruise was just as amazing. The captain and crew did a great job. We saw seals, waterfalls and the most spectacular views.
The flight back was the icing on the cake. Truly breathtaking. Pilot was amazing and informative as well.
Worth every penny

This day trip was amazing. We were greeted at our hotel by our friendly guide Erik. His knowledge and enthusiasm made our trip extra special. He is an amazing guide who clearly loves his job. ❤️ On arrival to Milford sound we embarked on the Boat and had a scenic cruise. We opted for the picnic lunch which you could eat on the boat. Everything was seamless and highly organised. Erik suggested an option to fly back to Queenstown. This was fantastic and a great option to finish the day. I would highly recommend this tour.

Everything about the trip was spectacular and was the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Getting the views from car to boat to plane gave an all around memorable way to see the mountains. Our tour guides for each section of the trip were helpful and provided interesting details about what we were seeing. Would highly recommend.
