Absolutely loved this tour! Our guide Machiko took us through Gion and explained important spots to us. She also educated us on the difference between a geiko and maiko and showed us where they go to learn their skills. We saw quite a few maikos whilst exploring the area. We then went into a beautiful wooden teahouse to experience a tea ceremony. Both the geiko who owned the teahouse, and her maiko served the tea. After this the geiko played the shamisen and sang whilst the maiko danced. It was magical. The geiko had a great sense of humour and the maiko was just so sweet. Highly recommend.

The meet a Geisha in Gion tour was fantastic! This was a very authentic tour given by Aki our amazing tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and facilitated a wonderful evening. This was one of our favorite things that we did while on our trip in Japan.

Up close immersion to the life and history of Geico and Maico of Japan and why Kyoto is the cultural centerpiece. Evening stroll though Gion was lovely as the lights were coming on. Beautiful scene and great people watching.

Outstanding tour of Gion led by Tomoko! The Geisha show and tea ceremony served by a Maiko were impressive. The interview with the Maiko, followed by her dance performance, were absolute highlights. Highly recommended!

I was a little worried that this tour would feel very surface-level and touristy, and was I happy to be wrong! Akiko was a great guide and taught us the history of the geiko (and maiko) in Kyoto, explained the educational process, and noted important spots in the city. We then got to experience a tea ceremony with both a geiko and one of the maiko where we were served two types of tea and sweets and then treated to live music and dance. Amazing, respectful, and beautiful.
