We will take you to the summit of Mauna Kea to see the sunset and we will do stargazing afterward (not at the summit). Our most unique part is that our guides will take the photo of the sunset and stars for you using their DSLR camera.
All photos are free of charge and you will get it to your smartphone at the end of the tour.

Since pick up in Kona our guide, Soyoo, started explaining, pointing out features and places. He also answered several of our questions and was very knowledgeable. He made sure to check on everyone as we started gaining elevation and suggested we drank plenty of water to prevent elevation sickness. Once we arrived at the summit, he took pictures with our phones and provided us with jackets, pants and gloves, if needed.
The view was breathtaking, you could see the clouds below you. It was definitely cold and windier than other days, per our guide, but that didn’t stop up from enjoying such a precious moment.
Once we got too cold, we were able to go back into the van and enjoy a delicious BLT. Close to sunset, Soyoo took out his professional camera and let us know that he could take pictures of whomever wanted (they came out so good!!!).
After sunset, we drove 7-10 minutes down to a parking look to stargaze. There, the guides (2 vans meet at this point) gave us hot chocolate and explained the constellations, one guide explained to English speakers and other to Japanese sealers. Needless to say that both guides were very knowledgeable and funny. After explanation they let us know that they would be taking a professional pictures with stars.
I would definitely recommend this tour, it didn’t feel long enough. We loved the experience and the guides kindness.

Todd was great. Very easy pick up at Queens Market. Some of our group spoke Japanese and Todd was able to communicate with them with all the cool information he provided.

Francis was a friendly and caring guide who ensured all of us were looked after and ok at altitude. Steph was fantastic taking photos of us with the sunset and stars - would highly recommend

our guide, Wes, did a great job describing what we saw along the way. The ride to the summit took us through many different types of landscapes and then above the clouds. The last section of the drive was extremely rocky and bumpy. The sunset was beautiful. The telescopes were huge - much larger than I had imagined. Unfortunately, we went on a full moon night so stargazing was not that great. But still a good experience.

Had a great experience. Wes was awesome gave good information about the landscape, culture, and history of Hawaii. Came out with a better understanding and appreciation for the islands. Can’t predict what nature is ever going to do but Wes went out of his way to make it the best possible experience we could have. Would recommend this tour.

Steph was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. The views from top of Mauna Kea are very beautiful and the star gazing experience is amazing with such clear night skies. I wish we could have stayed stargazing for a bit longer, but it did get too cold to stay out in the wind.

Canceled at the last minute. When you have limited days and you spend a whole day based around a tour and they cancel giving you no notice until you show up for the tour it's pretty frustrating. The worst part is that we were talking to our dive master about it the day before and he said, "Because of the weather, I doubt you're going to be able to go to the top of Mauna Kea". So a dive master seems to know what is happening better than the Mauna Kea tour operator.

Amazing unforgettable and well worth it experience! Pics do no Justice! Dress warm and be prepared for altitude effects. Brings snacks and drinks. 100% recommend! Our tour guide was excellent (Stefan)

We enjoyed the trip to the visitor center but waiting for permission to go to the summit of Mauna Kea was not enjoyable. It was very cold and windy so this limited our time outside the van. We were unable to see the sunset due to cloudy conditions. Pictures were taken during stargazing but we don't have an iPhone so we were to get an email that still has not arrived three days later. They have BLT sandwiches which is not the best choice for dinner but it tasted good. Wes the guide, was good and had lots of good information to share which made the trip better.
