Discover Ouarzazate and Zagora on this 2-day trip from Marrakech. Visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou fortress and admire stunning views of the Atlas mountains. Ride camel through the Sahara during the sunset. Savor a local dinner and breakfast and stay overnight in a tent at the Zagora dunes.
Day 1:
Begin with early-morning pickup from Marrakech. Travel through the dessert sandstone city of Ouarzazate. Stop at the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, where you will have free time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Continue to the verdant Draa Valley, which is well-known for its amazing ksour and kasbah. Head to Zagora and make your way to the windswept dunes for a sunset camel ride. Make camp at a campsite in the Zagora dunes and enjoy a hearty dinner of local flavors.
Day 2:
Wake early morning for a typical Berber breakfast before watching the sunrise from the back of your camel in the dunes. Board the bus and take the road back to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.

The communication with the organizer was great, they told us where we would get picked up and it was close to our Riad. The plan was also as expected so no surprises.
Our driver Abdul was amazing! We went as a family and my older father was concerned about the length of the trip (it takes 5.5h to get to the desert from Marrakech in a single shot, longer with stops) but Abdul made sure to stop enough time for him to feel comfortable. He was so understanding and it did not affect our travel time either.
The stop at Ait Benhaddou is enough time to explore, but remember you don't have to go with the guide (who charges 3-4EUR per person just to walk with you since they don't really give any type of explanation). Just walk around yourself. Also, the lunch place the guide will take you to is subpar but not the cheapest. I get it, they want to make a buck but you do have choices (which the Viator organizer makes clear on the reservation!).
The camp was nice, for the price you cannot expect some luxury but the communal washroom and showers were clean with hot water. The dinner was ok, if you have dietary restrictions like diabetes or gluten-free, bring some snacks, and also buy drinks before because they are overpriced at the camp (tea and coffee is included). The Berbers are accommodating at the camp, but they do get a little intense with their constant requests for tips.
Overall, I would highly recommend the trip because you get great bang for buck and we met some really cool people on the trip.

The whole trip was amazing - incredible views, great guides and lovely people. Our driver played some great music and we had a few moments of singing. We stopped to visit places like Ait Ben Haddou, where we hired a local guide. It was recommended and it was actually a good idea: our guide was nice and funny, and it was nice to spend time with him. Thanks Karim! We did the same for the Taourirt Kasbah and once again, it was such a beautiful experience. There are no signs or explanations, so having someone...

Tour absolutely not to be missed for those who have a 4/5 day holiday in Marrakech.

I'll start with the only negative things:
- The stages are about 2/3 hours apart, so arm yourself with patience because once the tour is finished you will face about 10 hours of travel in a minibus. For those who suffer from car sickness, I recommend getting in front because the road is full of curves.
- During the excursions there is no free time but only guided tours, this only allows you to see the thousands of souvenir shops but without buying anything.

The many positive things:
- On the first day you will visit Ait Ben Haddou with a guide who will explain all the details, truly breathtaking.
- Unique desert experience, a good hour of dromedary ride before arriving in your Berber village. The village is very well organized with dinner, bonfire, Berber drumming and exclusive tent for you, furthermore, the following morning you can see the sunrise with the quod excursion option (excluded).
- the following morning after sunrise and breakfast included we set off again for Outazazate which unfortunately was closed when we arrived due to work in progress (due to a recent earthquake), so it is only possible to visit it from the outside. Lunch excluded and then return towards Marrakech arriving at 6pm

Our super nice driver even though he felt a bit like Lewis Hamilton while driving but unfortunately it's the classic Moroccan driving!

All in all, an amazing adventure with beautiful scenery and very accomodating guides and driver. The desert camping was a definite highlight! It was perhaps a little too much driving for just two days but I guess that’s the price you pay if you want to see the Sahara from Marrakesh. Also be sure to pack any motion sickness medication should you need it as the road is very winding. But do not be put off, it’s all worth it . Thanks karim

Wonderful activity even if a little tiring. Times are very tight but all the people (from the guides to the driver) are extremely friendly and attentive. Unique experience, to do at least once in a lifetime!

Yes, the trip was awful, it was a great hotel, especially if there are two of you, it's definitely worth it for the prices.
The location is really good, right next to the main market.
If you're already here, don't forget to order a shawarma ;-)

It was an unbelievable experience. We loved the guides and everyone who took care of us on this experience: kind, incredibly friendly and with inexhaustible energy. The food was great, and the conditions of the van and tents exceeded our expectations... Very good
