This whole experience still feels like a dream to me which it wouldn't have been possible with all the dedication and organization Minka Travels did for me and my 60 year old mom. They were very punctual picking us up from our accommodation to take the bus to Ollantaytambo, we had a stop in Chincheros, we were able to stretch our legs and take beautiful pictures there, when we got to Aguas Calientes our tour guy was waiting for us to show where we could have some lunch, after that we met him again and he took us to the location to take the bus to Machupicchu. Our guide Paul was waiting for us there, I can't say enough of him, he was very knowledgeable, he answered all of our questions, he was very patient and very helpful with my mom going up hill. He never rushed us and was a great photographer, he took wonderful pictures and even suggested some posses to do, he took the bus back to Aguas Calientes with us and since we had plenty of time before we had to take the train back to Ollantaytambo, he gave us great directions on how to get to the thermal baths which we found it was relaxing after a long day of trekking. Back in Cusco they were waiting for us to take us back to the hotel. I can't wait to come back again. I highly recommend Minkas Travel, great job, well done!

Let me start by saying that I purchased passes to Machu Picchu and train tickets on my own. I foolishly made a mistake by not adding in the bus time from Aguas Caliente up to the entrance and ran the risk of not being allowed to enter as we would have arrived later than our time slot. I realized this in Cusco at 10pm the night before our 7am entrance time. Needless to say, I panicked and frantically searched for a way to fix it. That is when I came upon Irwin with Minkas. He messaged me immediately and effortlessly fixed our issue by getting us earlier train tickets, bus tickets AND a private tour guide for a mere 5 hours later. Our transportation to the Ollantaytambo train station met us at our hotel at 3am and got us there on time. We met our guide, Edgar, at the Aguas Caliente stop and off we went. I cannot say enough about how amazing Edgar is as a guide to Machu Picchu. He is extremely knowledgeable, funny, and one heck of a photographer. When I say that Irwin and Edgar saved our trip, I am not exaggerating. They are both amazing people and I cannot recommend them enough!!

Machu Picchu...omg! I finally made it decades later. Like most people, this is on the bucketlist but it's more than just a mountain...it's a feeling and experience that hits your heart, spirit, mind and soul. It's extremely peaceful there. I can't explain the magical mysterious and calm feeling I was able to feel. I'm in love with Machu Picchu. The tour and travels to get there was very easy! I traveled solo with ease. Minkas travel was an excellent agent to use. The order is bus, train, bus. Very easy to follow with organized itinerary they give you. I was the only person on tour which made it very special and personal! My guide Julio was fantastic!!! He took the BEST pictures I've ever had in my life....this will be with me forever and he did an excellent job. Also, he taught me so much about the details like the room purposes, housing structures, landscapes/terrain, geology of the area, etc. Very knowledgeable! The day is long but worth it. The hike up was surprisingly easy but some steep steps; take small breaks. Very managable. I was lucky to have made it after the morning rain b.c. the view turned out beyond perfect! All shades of green, grey, blue sky, brown hillside, stone colors and clear skies! It was unreal....every minute was perfect. I wanted to cry at such a beautiful place. I wanted to stay longer. Machu Picchu is BEAUTIFUL! It's a place that you have to experience in real time. It's not just for pictures, it's for the mind, spirit, and soul. Peru is magnificent with a different energy compared to other cities. I cannot wait to visit again. Thank you Minkas!! The only feedback I have for the team is 1) I wish they would verify/contact 24 hours prior (I got an alert only 8 hrs before and had to call multiple times). And 2) is the Agua Calientes entrance has a person to walk you to the bus stop but finding her was tricky. Maybe her sign should add "Minkas" so it's easier to find her. Her board had 8 peoples names on it and I barely found her at the entrance. But everything else was perfect! Do this tour, it's very organized with amazing people!! Train ride was so fun!

What a day! We got picked up at 3 am at our accommodation to go to Ollantaytambo. From there, we took the train to Aguas Calientes. Unfortunately, we got delayed about 4 hours due to a landslide, but our guide Bryan was so nice to wait for us. Together, we took the bus to Machu Picchu, and it's even better than on the pictures! Bryan told us so many interesting facts and didn't leave any questions open. We were able to take our time and took some amazing pictures. I have to admit that we forgot to bring enough Soles with us to give him as a tip, but I want to give him our sincere gratitude for being such a great guide.
Back in Aguas Calientes, our train was once more delayed and we came back to Wanchaq, Cusco, way later than originally planned. Things like these can happen, but the real problem was: We had used up all our data and weren't able to inform MINKA's Travel. It would have been totally understandable if our driver hadn't waited for us, so we were completely surprised when we saw Irwin at the station. He had been waiting for us this whole time to take us back to our accommodation! This is something we do not take for granted. Thank you so, so much! You really made our day, and we could not be more thankful.

I picked Minka's travel for my tour to Machu Picchu because they were the highest rated company that would let me book online for just one person on the date I wanted to go. It turned out to be a great choice. Pretty much everyone goes by the same bus, train, then bus combination (all spectacular, by the way) to get there, so which company you choose should depend on the price and the guide. I think prices vary (shop around) but my guide, Julio, was excellent. The location is amazing, but the place itself and its continuing role in the spiritual lives of the local people are fascinating.

This was the most incredible, well organized, soul changing experience. The day started with the most accommodating driver (Dario) who takes you to the Inca rail people and sets you up for a seamless transfer to Machu Picchu. Then we met Irwin there and he was AMAZING. We noticed a lot of people with guides who weren’t given as much time, information, complimentary photos etc as we were. He also took great pictures of us, we aren’t picture people and so it was so nice to lean I tot hat and have some to send to family. I could go on and on about how incredibly well organized and looked after we were. He is just so knowledgeable and I felt like both Dario and Irwin just really cared about us and their beautiful Machu Picchu and giving us a seamless experience. I would reccomend this to everyone. They are also entirely locally operated. Book it!!! And say hi to Irwin and Dario for us!
