The Secret Food Tour in Borough Market was outstanding. Chris does such an excellent job explaining the history of the area as well as the origin of the foods sampled. Would recommend to anyone!

This food tour was so much fun! Amelia was our tour guide and she was fantastic. She was extremely knowledgeable not only about the food but the history surrounding the neighborhood. As a fellow food lover, I enjoyed interacting with and sharing my love for food with Amelia.

I booked this for 3 adults and 1 senior. I liked that the group was max 12 people. Chris was our guide and he was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable.
I didn't know we'd be eating some items from Borough Market so that was pretty cool since we had tried to visit the market a couple days prior on our own but it was dead bc we didn't know it closed at 5pm. At the market, we tried:
1.Indian dosa, very delicious. It was a shared item b/w 2 people. good portion size.

2. Award winning fish & chips from First Kitchen.

3.We also had the World Famous Sausage roll from the Ginger Pig. Everyone had 1/3 of the roll. Pretty good size to get a taste.

4. Also some nice white wine:)

After the market we walked to a sit-down spot called The Mug House under the London Bridge where we had our next 2 food items. The walk there was short. Here we were able to sit, relax and had a restroom. There was a restroom at the market but the line was long.
At the Mug House:
5. 1st was a yummy cheese plate of 3 different cheeses w.some water crackers, chutney, and grapes.  A cheddar, brie, and a Bleu cheese varietal. 1 plate/2 people.

6. With cider. I love chilled drinks so the cider was nice. Didn't get too much alcohol and tasted more like Martinelli sparkling.
But was still good.

7. The 2nd item was sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream. It was soft, sweet, and overall yummy!

8. And tea. It paired nicely with the pudding.

9. Afterwards, we walked over to a spot near the London Bridge where we had our last food item.
Donuts from Bread Ahead. We had seen them at the market but Chris already had the goods in his backpack so we didnt need to walk back to the market. It was a chocolate filled donut, coated in sugar. I ate the whole thing. Funny, when we went to the market when everything was closed a couple days prior, the only place opened was Bread Ahead! It's a baking school and you could smell the delicious aroma coming from the building! So it was a nice surprise to try something from them.

We were comfortably full by the end. We did the 3PM tour, ended by 5.30PM and did not need to have dinner.

Note: The tour says it lasts 3.5 Hours but it was only 2.5 hr.

Also, the market lines (queues) were LONG if you came on your own but with the tour, Chris had all of the foods pre-arranged so he'd let us explore the market for 10-15min while he went to get the next food item for us and we'd meet back up at the designated spot. Eat and he'd tell us about what we were eating.
If you are a foodie and want a taste of Borough Market, I recommend this tour.

Things to Note:
-The meeting details said 2nd floor of Evans Bike Shop. But the bike shop is only 1 floor and we were kinda confused and thought we were in the wrong spot!
We arrived 20 minutes before the tour started and the guide wasn't there yet. Then more of us started to arrive and I was like, well..we ALL can't be in the wrong spot lol. My husband went downstairs to keep an eye for the orange umbrella and the rest of us stayed upstairs. It was a bit sketchy bc upstairs looked run down with graffiti. Then my husband asked the bike shop about their 2nd floor and they said they don't have a 2nd floor!!! Lol. But said people usually stand in front of their window(1F) and someone shows up.

It was now 3PM and I was almost making peace with the fact that perhaps the tour was going to be cancelled. I even emailed the company to ask if the guide was running behind. They were prompt to reply to my email and confirmed the tour was still on.

Meanwhile we were waiting, someone in my group of 4 went to find a public restroom.
Then Chris showed up and apologized and said he was at the market finalizing our foods :) This person wasn't back yet by the time Chris arrived. He was very patient and kindly waited for this person to return.
It was much appreciated.
In the meantime, he gave us some history of the area and talked with us :)

-The tour is mostly standing at the Borough Market. Something to keep in mind if you have trouble standing for a while. When we were free to explore for 10-15min in between foods, some of us would try to find a place to sit and people watch.
The only defined sit down time was at the Mug House.

The market was so crowded and Chris did his best to help the 12 of us navigate through the crowds or go around them. It was easy to get lost in the crowd, literally.

His walking pace was normal for me but perhaps a little too fast for a senior who is handicapped. He did ask if we needed to slow down but my mom said she was fine. I knew she didn't want to hold up the group so one of us would stay with her to walk at her pace meanwhile the other 2 would go ahead with the group.  It was in these moments that I wish Chris was carrying a little flag so we could see where he was when I was with my mom.
Chris was a teriffic guide, again, friendly, and a lovely personality that made the tour enjoyable.
He gave us really great suggestions of places to go after the tour and things to do. I would 100% recommend this food tour. Thanks Chris!

Our guide, Hank, was a food buff as well as an English history expert. During our 3 hour walking food tour we visited the Borough Market and other pubs and restaurants.

We sampled salmon and cream cheese bagels, fish and chips, sausage rolls, English cheeses and tea, etc.

Very enjoyable experience.

Great tour of the Borough market and the best it has to offer. We visited a popular fish and chips shop, Humble Crumble, a dosa shop, and a few others that completed our meal, including drinks. Was a very filling experience and good tour guide who gave us the history of the cuisine. Also, with some of the place the line was huge but the benefit of the tour is essentially getting front of line access (fyi the tour fee includes the food)

Would definitely do again and recommend to others!
