We don't do tours — they're not our style. We like to go at our own pace self-directed, and explore the city. But when our trip to Lisboa was cut short due to flight delays, we decided to book a tour to make sure we got the highlights.
We were so pleased with João's tour that our attitude might be changed. João is such a pleasant, knowledgeable, and communicative guide. As we rode on the tuktuk through Lisboa, he made sure we saw key sights peppered in with some fun facts and added context. Tailored to our interest, he also took a quick detour to show off some beautiful street art from the growing street art scene. As we were wrapping up, he offered some other recommendations for things to do, based on what we were curious about.
We'd highly recommend this tour to anyone — probably early on in your trip to help your orient to the city. We found that we had a much better understanding of the overall geography afterwards.

My wife and I took a Christmas Lights Tuk-Tuk tour with João's Journeys last December. This spring we took the Historical Downtown Tour. Just last month we took the Lisbon Romantic Tour. Each tour has been truly wonderful. João takes you to a well-curated selection of places, but what's best is how he makes them come alive! He speaks perfect English, has vast knowledge of the sites as well as Portuguese history and culture. What's more he makes the tours fun! We recommend João's Journeys most highly -- for visitors or residents.

Joào’s tour was incredible. He was so educated on the history of Lisbon and made the tour engaging and exciting. You could tell he loved the city and that energy was passed along to all of us on the tour.
The sites, history, and cultural immersion along with Joào’s love, enthusiasm, and kindness make this one of the best trips I’ve done in a country I’ve visited.
Highly recommend!

This was my first time in Lisbon and the tour with Joao was the perfect way to start off my trip. I got to see so much of Lisbon in a short space of time. The views were beautiful and he was extremely knowledgeable about the city. Highly recommended!

I booked a tour with Joao for my Birthday and it was the best decision! Me and my friends learned a lot about significant parts of the city, got to see a lot in a short amount of time, and had so much fun.
Joao is super knowledgable and such a kind person - He is the perfect guide :)
I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore more of Lisbon!

Feel extremely fortunate to have found a recommendation to Joao's tours on a reddit thread! Joao was very quick to respond to my enquiry on instagram, and booked us into a tour the same morning we enquired. Joao taught us a-lot about the history of Portugal, and sprinkled in some very interesting facts about his city. Not only does he have a wealth of knowledge, but he is so funny and personable that you don't even feel like you're learning. An added bonus is that the tuktuk is electric which made it really easy to hear him. We are already thinking about which tour we want to do with Joao next.

Our all day tour was remarkable thanks to the fun personality, local knowledge and love for Lisboa of our guide, Ricardo! Fantastic experience of sights, vistas and tastes.
