No one contacts you before hand and when you get to the terminal you have no idea where you’re going unless you ask, the driver said nothing not even instructions on how the activity will go, you get to the cave and are left with the tour guides from the actual place which are really nice Laura was great! But you’re only in the cave for an hour you don’t even explore the whole thing and it was just such a waste for the money, book a full day tour instead!

This lava cave tour was a different and fun tour! Our guide Lara was amazing and explained a lot about the lava formation and the cave itself. Easy walk, only took about an hour without travel time and was a really fun morning!

This is a fabulous half day excursion. Alex our guides was superb. He was knowledgeable and very witty. Having been to lots of the geological sites, this is great addition to better understanding the beauty and power of nature.

One of our favourite excursions we did in Iceland, which is impressive as we had a busy few days! Our guide was both knowledgeable and engaging and we both left wanting more (in the best way). We learnt lots of interesting new facts and had many laughs along the way. I would recommend this to anybody, the bus even dropped us directly to our hotel on the way back even though that wasn’t included. The bus terminal is only a 15min walk from the centre of Reykjavík and is fully paved.

We did the “Lava Cave and Geothermal” excursion, and for the most part it was great. The guide Albert is good and has a specialization in the history of Iceland. The lava cave guide, Gareth, was an amazing guide. The geothermal spa has a cold plunge, large hot pools (38*C) and amazing views of the snowy mountains if you go during the winter. I would give it a 5 star, but I feel like these Reykjavik Excursion tours lack a personal touch and sense of excitement that I got from other companies in the area. I can’t say great things about all the excursions from this company, but this one is a fantastic day if you decide to do it!

I chose this short trip before my flight home and I’m glad I did. There’s limited time in the caves, due to the journey there and back from Reykjavik, but I enjoyed the scenic bus ride…

The caves themselves are interesting, and the guide was very good. Personally I would have liked to explore deeper into the cave system, which you can do on a separate trip, if you’re fit. As it is, it’s an enjoyable and easy way to spend a morning, in any weather…

This trip is a must and highly recommend. The bus transfers were easy to find at the bus station and on time. The lava cave was definitely worth a visit and our guide was so informative and happy to answer any questions. At this time of year with the snow it made the initial walk to reach the cave even more magical. The highlight was at the end of the cave when the lights went off and everyone was silent listening to the noises in the cave in complete darkness, it really was a moment we will never forget.

The lava tour was excellent. However, it was cut short by 20 min due to the bus leaving late. Therefore, they should have let us have an extra 20 min, but they kept to the original time to go back to Reykjavík. I know they need to keep things on time, but the lava tunnel should have been longer or the same amount of time as the ride.
