Fantastic adventure for our family of four (2 kids 9 and 11) and 2 adults. There was so much to do, we wish we had more time, but in reality we probably wouldn’t have been able to do much more, we were very tired by the time we boarded for our return. There was no shortage of activities and the beach was beautiful, with clear water and interesting rock formations all around. So many little nooks to take in the beauty. Tips: if you have younger kids, decide ahead of time if you want to do the kids portion of beach or regular portion, because they ask you to decide quickly on the boat ride over. Our daughters were fine doing the regular activities, I think they would have been bored with the kids zone. I would bring comfortable water shoes for walking back and forth and up the hills. We wound up buying the photo package because of the great experiences we had with the sea lion (that was extra not included). Definitely eat breakfast before you go, but the welcome taco is very filling. My daughters had so much fun, they said going on a regular boat is one thing, but having fun entertaining hosts on the boat was even more exciting. Highly recommend!

My son & I went to las caletas today April 22/24..what a fantastic adventure! Starting with the 1 hour boat ride there right to the boat ride returning. When you get there you want to head straight up to the attractions on the side of a cliff basically. We started with flowrider which my son loved and we spent most of our time there with the instructor Yulie who was fabulous!! Then went zip lining right into ocean which was super fun and from there swam over to the banana boat which was also an exciting ride! Also the big green slide we did before we headed back over to flow rider. All these attractions run until 1:30. At 1:30 we headed back down the cliff for the wonderful buffet lunch. After lunch we had a bit of time to go down on the beach for a little swim and then basically it was time to get on the boat! We had a blast and got in all the things we wanted to do. I would highly recommend!

we signed up for five tours, Caletas Beach being our first Adventure. we were welcomed to the island with a warm taco, YUM! The island if full of fun activities for all ages. We mainly stuck to snorkeling and this was awesome with lots of fish to see, even rays! Poncho and his staff are accommodate and encourage making sure everyone has what they need to enjoy the day. They assist people in and out of the ocean wiht the kayak and paddle board. The island was fun to explore. Lunch was also YUM! For the ride home we received entertainment by the staff. Poncho, Ruben, Christian, Gio and the all of them on Boat 4 put on a great show! There was not one let down on this adventure. Thanks guys.

My daughter and I booked a scuba diving trip with sea lions. The boat for dive trips are usually small. We were on a large 2 level catamaran with lots of other people heading to Las Caletas. The boat ride was amazing with drinks and entertainment and attentive staff. The dive guide got us outfitted on the hour ride out. The dive was great, and the sea lion interaction was a great experience to share. The lunch/snacks I am used to on a typical dive trip are usually sandwich's the boat captain's girlfriend makes. Lunch here was anything but typical. Vallarta Adventures put on an amazing buffet at Las Caletas that seemed more like a restaurant experience. Great food and drink and again amazing staff. After Lunch we had about 45 minutes before the boat left to take us back. They had comfortable hammocks on the beach we relaxed in while we waited. Vallarta Adventures offers an incredible tour and to cost was reasonable. For what we got I thought it should have costed more. There was a lot of whale activity that we are able to experience too. If you don't have fun at Las Caletas with Vallarta Adventures, you are incapable of experiencing fun.

Relaxing. Lots of activities without paying for the extras. Great lunch & staff. Entertainment on boat ride too. Highly recommend. Not a hustle constantly like other tours.

Overall this is a great value for what is delivered. The venue itself is much larger than what I expected. Tons of activities to keep you entertained and an open bar. The lunch buffet was fantastic, staff on island were very friendly as well as attentive. The boat ride there is very pleasant, but coming back was a blast. The crew put on a lipsync rock show, all around good fun. Again, this tour really packs a lot for what it cost.

We spent 5 days at Vidanta Nuevo Vallarta (The Grand Bliss) and this excursion was my teens favorite part of the trip!

I scoured these reviews before I left so I want to give my feedback now.

I was traveling with my two boys - ages 15 & 13. (if they weren't in the same age group, it would have been a hassle - fudge your kids ages if you have to- nobody cares)

You leave from Nuevo Vallarta at 8am. You pick up folks at Puerto Vallarta at 8:30am.

On the boat ride to the beach, they stop near the Cathedral Puerto Vallarta so you can take a photo on the boat ride. They also stop near some rock islands for photos. You can take your own pictures. I enjoyed the scenic ride to the beach. There are more views on the port (left side of the boat) but also more sun. We were sunburned so we stayed starboard.

I read that you run out of time to do everything. You get to the beach around 10am. I understand why people say that. I was prepared for that having read these reviews. Basically there is a ton to do so that nothing is too crowded but, no, you could never do it all. That's by design so you don't have massive lines. We were happy with what we could do and our time was shorter than yours will be (due to the eclipse - read below)

The bathrooms on the island are nice. They had incense burning and it felt special.

We went straight to Teen Adventure Zone at the end of the beach. We started with the Flow rider. My boys got multiple tries but never got to surf. They had fun trying!

The water slide is a bit sketchy. Skip it. It's slow and claustrophic.

The zip line into the water was fun and well designed.

At 1:00 (1:15pm really) lunch was available and we were the first ones there. It was delicious. Fresh tortillas are a special treat!

When I read the reviews of the beach I was confused so I want to explain it a little better. It's all one big long beach really. They have an adults only beach (which we didn't see) but the beach we were at had paddle boards and intertubes that were readily available. I brought my own goggles and was surprised and what I could see from the beach - sting rays, puffer fish, blue fish - it was beautiful. They also had floats to swim to with hammocks and chairs on them. It was all so thoughtful that you never felt crowded or cramped. My kids loved being in the waves on the intertubes. They did that for over an hour and it was a trip highlight. My kids don't get waves in Seattle so they loved doing this!

Cons
When you arrive at the island, you get a welcome taco. However, it was unclear where you get that so we didn't get one. That could be better communicated... (tip - bring snacks)

The Eclipse
We went on the day of the eclipse. This was a little confusing because we were told on the boat that everything would be closed from 12-12:30pm and we would need to get out of the sun then. But when we were on the island in the Teen Zone, we were told it was 11:30am-12:30pm. And then later we were told it was from 12:00-1:00pm. So, in effect, there was an extra 90 minutes that activities were not available and we may have needed to be out of the sun... workers said the government was warning people not to be outside which was really confusing. Even their staff stayed outside. So, I'm really unclear about what that was about... (obviously this issue was unique to our trip and we still loved out time there)

Tips
Bring snacks! We had to leave the resort before any restaurant was open for breakfast so we bought food at the outside waiting area at Vallarta Adventues (and coffee was free). That was before 8am. The next time we were served food was at 1:15pm. My teen boys had swum and ran and played and were hungry. Bring snacks!

We had so much fun that I bought the photo package for $120 at the end but wouldn't do that again. We got enough good photos on our own really. It wasn't a hard sale, I just was feeling so happy about the adventure overall that I wanted to keep it all. :)

Overall, we loved this excursion and would do it again. Caletas beach is thoughtfully laid out and has many details to love - bamboo forest, maccaws, incense, a dj spinning music - it's a complete delight. Highly highly recommmend!
