I'm Lanai Tabura, born and raised in Hawaii and currently the host of Cooking Hawaiian Style which airs in 250 cites in the US & 5 other countries. I'm going to take you to all my local favorite hole in walls and establishments that you'll never find unless you were born and raised here in the islands. Some of these place I've been to since I was a child. I just recently won a Emmy award 2018 for the history of a Ramen Documentary. This was a fabulous experience. We loved the history than Lanai provided behind the various foods we ate. The food we had was wonderful! So flavorful and not something you get at a luau. We fell in love with all of it especially the ube! We would take this journey again, especially if Lanai was our guide!!

Trav was the most UNBELIEVABLY amazing tour guide. He showed us some of the absolute best food on the island and shared stories along the way. This was truly the best day of our two week long honeymoon. We got to experience new foods, see some amazing sites and spend time with one of the coolest guides possible. Could not recommend this more - best day ever. Come with an open mind and empty stomach, and you won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing time with Lanai. If you do nothing else during your stay, do this! We have done quite a few private tours, including food and this was hands down the best. Lanai shared the true history of Hawai'i through food. We experienced foods that we didn't even knew existed, and Lanai shared about how the different areas have changed. This tour would be perfect for people that enjoy getting out of the touristy spots and truly experiencing the local food scene. The grocery store we stopped at blows Wegmans out of the park and wish we had one back home.

The best food tour you will ever go on. Lanai’s credentials and knowledge was up to par. So much education about the history of the island but also the food. Where certain items came from, how they were grown or brought to the island. Get out of Waikiki and explore more local cuisines with Lanai. Everything we ate was so delicious. You can taste the authenticity and culture in every bite. I can’t thank you enough for showing us around. Aloha!

My niece gifted us a private tour with Chef Lanai Tabura during our trip to Oahu. On the Private Aloha Plate Hawaii Food Tour, we went to authentic Hawaiian and Hawaiian-influenced restaurants and food shops. We loved learning about the history of these foods, how they are prepared, how to purchase them - and most of all - we loved trying them! Lanai was delightful. He is so committed to the preservation of the islands, their food and culture. This was the highlight of our Hawaiian adventure, and his recommendations led us to other less-known but wonderful eating spots throughout the remainder of our trip. We highly recommend you include this tour on your trip to Oahu!

This Food Tour was absolutely incredible. Lanai was the perfect host. Total gentleman and his food knowledge is amazing. We got to experience the best food that we have had in decades and his personal touch made this even more special. We were able to experience authentic Hawaiian food that we have never tasted before , if you do one tour when visiting Hawaii, this is the want to do.
Lanai , thank you for your personal touch and we are so excited to go back home and watch you on TV and tell everybody what an amazing experience we had.

We experienced so many different foods! We learned their history & found great little hole in the wall resturant’s that were amazing. Lanai Tabura was entertaining, and a great story teller. My husband & I throughly enjoyed the experience & would highly recommend taking one of his tours!

Lanai picked us up in a Tesla SUV and was an awesome tour guide. Our vacation planning company booked this for myself and my wife. We had no clue Lanai was a famous dude. He is super nice and very passionate about his island. The food was interesting and this is something you should definitely try while visiting. Lanai was limping due to a surf accident and I felt bad for him since I have had a messed up hip and torn calve muscle from playing sports. The tour takes you to where the locals go to eat and that was the best part since we would have never tried these places on our own.
