We did the morning tour and liked it so much that we stayed for the afternoon tour as well. Our tour guide Stephen (who was debuting with his first tour for HK Free Tours today) did an excellent job of taking us around the city. Would recommend doing both the morning and the afternoon tours to understand both the good and the bad. Overall, great experience that really helped us understand the historical and cultural significance of both touristy and local areas.

This is a great tour to complement the glitzy side of Hong Kong. Highly recommended to get a deeper understanding of the dynamics of this vibrant city. The living conditions for the poor are heart wrenching.. Gave an interesting insight into the direction of the city... i.e focused on tourism (with no value added taxes) in lieu of supporting home costs for the many residents who are not so well off. Must be tough administering a city such as this.

Highly recommended - the tour was well paced and varied, split into two halves. Our tour guide was brilliant, knowledge and happy to answer questions. The culmination of the second half really did “blow our minds” as he promised. This interesting couple of hours has left a lasting impression.

The dark side of hong kong is overly exaggerated . The tour guide used unrepresentative statistic to say it takes 40 years of salary to buy a flat of 500 Sq feet. The median income is 20000hkd instead of 16000hkd. Using the price of a flat (8million hkd) in city centre is not representative enough because most of the hk people lived in remote areas.
The guide said the average rent is 25000hkd for a flat of 500sq feet. That is not reflecting the reality of most of the hk people.
Quite disappointed about it.
For the part one of the tour, I dont see the meaning of visiting the 3 streets. Nothing special and I can walk by myself too.

Amazing tour! I can recommend this tour enough. So much fascinating information and history. You will definitely discover and see things in Hong Kong that I guarantee no other tour will take you to and that you will unlikely stumbled onto on your own as a tourist. The guide was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
