'Jan" is back after his 3 mo recovery and in full lively form! I had one of the best tours ever with Viator because of Jan (John). He was a wonderful driver and guide during the 9 hours and shared tons of interesting information about the Netherlands. I was sad when the day was over. I'm glad I got to go to Kinderdijk, is a few hours outside of Amsterdam. Kinderdijk is historically 'the' windmill area and I loved seeing inside a windmill that housed a large family 100 years ago. How 13 kids could have lived in it was beyond me, but the picture of the family was on the windmill wall and the family was quite self sufficient. Onward, we drove to the Hague and got to see Embassies and beautiful homes. Another highlight was time at the Mauritshuis Museum and at last I saw the real painting of 'Girl With the Pearl Earring'.
It was a wonderful tour ( I've give this tour more stars if I could) because it was a knock out with Jan back at the helm as driver and guide with his lively sense of warm humor and fun. Thank You!

I agree with many of the other reviewers - DO NOT book this "tour." Here's why:
1. The meeting place is quite a hub, which is fine, but we were given no information as to how to find the "guide" - no signs, no prior email, etc.
2. The guide was a driver. We received no facts or history during the drive.
3. When we reached The Hague, we were presented with tickets for Maruitshuis. When I told the driver I wanted to see the Escher museum, he said he didn't know anything about it. No apology, no contacting the company to see what could be done. I had to walk there and pay for my own ticket.
4. After the museum time, we made one 5-minute stop for pictures at a palace. I was hoping to at least drive by the International Criminal Court. As we drove through the city, we received no history or information about it.
I am EXTREMELY ANGRY that I paid such a large sum for something I could have done by train for a lot cheaper - and a less crowded vehicle.

This is HORRIBLE. DO NOT BOOK. It’s a taxi driver. That’s all. A guy with a mini van NOT a tour. No narrative. No guide. No water. No Wi-Fi. Just a pick up a drop off at two sites and return. Mini van has six seats, three of which are backwards. We rode for four hours round trip backwards and in the middle so saw nothing along the way. Driver was a nice guy but they just hired him out like a taxi. This is not a tour in any respect. Kinderjick was nice and a must see. We just got dropped in The Hague on our own. It’s a guy who is a taxi driver who does the route for this irrefutable tour company. DO NOT book this tour. Find a similar one with a bona fide company. Viator’s business model is to have as many tour operators “aggregated” on its site. There is NO screening. NO vetting. NO quality control. This is a guy in a van who gives you tickets and takes you to the sites in a cramped van riding backwards. AVOID this

The trip stated that there was live commentary. There was not. It was transportation to and from the sites. The driver dropped us off at each site, left, then picked us up. No bottled water included.

I have been on many tours in several countries: I must say this was among the worst, especially for the price. In short, the itinerary wasn't fulfilled.

The good: we traveled safely and arrived back at the dropoff point. Kinderdijk was very interesting and definitely worth a visit. What we saw briefly at The Hague was nice.

The bad: The van was cramped, 8 total passengers. The driver was a driver, not a guide: we got a total of maybe 10 minutes of commentary for the whole trip. We were NOT given a choice of places to visit once in The Hague. When we asked the driver, he advised he didn't know anything about it and there wasn't time ... (so we got Mauritshuis or nothing). The highlights tour of The Hague consisted of a brief stop for photo at the palace. Upon returning to Amsterdam the driver asked where we were staying and offered to drop us there... for 20 euros per party. No bottled water provided.

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this tour.

This is basically a taxi service with a guy who barely speaks English. Plan to spend most of the day with 7 others in a six seater mini van. If you want to see Kinderdijk and this is your only way, then do it. That’s how we ended up on this service.

The service also states you have tickets to the palace and you do not! Honestly $434 wasted. We could have rented a car service for less. Lesson learned! Viator needs to remove this from the site offerings.

The architecture in Amsterdam is beautiful and the canals are clean, but tourists can’t find delicious food. They all seem to be fries, pizza, and beer, which I’m not used to eating. Reservations are required for restaurants and museums. There is a flower market on one street, which is quite attractive.

Plan the day and choose a P house as a starting point and choose three nearby experiences. Choose a canal cruise and go to a restaurant or coffee. Avoid chain restaurants and - coffee. Discover the Dutch specialists.

Jan was excellent at giving historical context and providing interesting facts about Holland and things we were driving past. He was a knowledgeable guide and a good driver too. Enjoyed not having to navigate times, entrance tickets or the roads. My husband and I could relax and take in the beautiful buildings and surroundings
