Fabulous day out. A word of warning… we took a taxi from central Amsterdam to the departure location
It cost €75. On the way back, we were shown the free ferry which takes you to the main station, where a taxi to the hotel cost €25

A great day trip from Amsterdam. The price includes a ticket into the gardens and a shuttle bus. Definitely worth the price. Having shuttle buses available several times every half hour to take you back allows for you to spend as much time as you want without being too rushed. Traffic was definitely heavy coming from Amsterdam. I would arrive as early as possible, because it gets busy quickly. The flower gardens were unbelievable beautiful, offering picturesque stops at every turn.

If you end up in Amsterdam and think it would be nice to experience some tulips, this is a good tip.
You buy a ticket with entry. The buses run frequently, so you can choose for yourself whether you just want to make a short visit to Keukenhof or whether you want to spend the whole day there.
And even if someone like me doesn't manage to hit the ultimate tulip season (I was there the second week of May and by then the bloom was pretty much over) a walk in the park is good for the soul. Even though there are quite a few visitors, you can easily find your own oasis where you can listen to birdsong and enjoy rippling water and verdant flower beds.

Easy and convenient. We could have just hopped on the bus and left at our own time. Perfect for those who want to do their own thing.

This place was absolutely gorgeous with the tulips in bloom. Who knew that there were so many varieties in so many colors…even a green flower! It’s hard to describe how beautiful it is but we thought that it rivaled Buchart Gardens in Victoria,BC. This was definitely at the top of our highlights in the Netherlands, so far. Remember, that we went in April, knowing that the tulips would be in full bloom at that time.

We walked at leisure and took our time to see this wonderful display of beautiful flowers. Money well spent. It is definitely worth going by bus as traffic is quite heavy getting there and back.

We enjoyed our time at Keukenhof and the convenience of being able to leave at whatever time we wanted was an added bonus. This allowed us the time to hire bikes and ride around the tulip farms. Bus drops off and picks up right near the entrance.

We were only able to visit the gardens 3 days before their season ended. That meant that most of the tulips were gone. It was still beautiful and festive but the fact that there were not that many flowers was a let down. The crowd was massive that too. It was hard to get around and that made it even less enjoyable. If you go, don't wait until the end of the tulip season to visit.

Very pretty gardens full of tulips, however, from the photos we thought we were going to see the tulip fields and that was not the case. Otherwise very nice, it is very crowded, bring an umbrella :)

Beautiful gardens although the fields were at the end of their season. I wish we would have gone earlier in the season.
