Seamless, beautiful, memories and pictures of a lifetime.
The tour was well organized and as described. As a single mom traveler, it was stress free to participate in this tour with my 4 year old. The bus (Mercedes Benz) was comfortable for the hour and 30 minutes drive to the canal / windmill cruise.
The boat had snacks, coffee, and beers for sale . It was very peaceful. We then took a bus ride to Keukenhoff. I loved that the return time was flexible, based off your preference. It was a memorable day.

The Hop-on staff was very helpful and professional, and bus transportation was excellent. I enjoyed the Windmill Cruise, which was just long enough to be enjoyable without being tedious. Lots of opportunities for photos. The Keukenhof Garden was breathtaking, but I was chagrinned to see so many of the blooms well past their prime. Good value over all.

Its well organized, clean, and GORGEOUS.

Unfortunatelly the guard said the tulips fields were already closed - 5th May
So I recommend visiting in April

They timing and courtesy of the staff on scheduling buses and boat was very good. The gardens unfortunately were past the peak but very impressive.

I would have appreciated knowing exactly where we were to go initially when I had purchased the tickets. Not knowing Amsterdam made it very stressful to a first time tourist coming to Amsterdam. We we’re staying at Banks Mansion Hotel and our travel to Amsterdam Central Station was delayed as no trams no clue why they were delayed but we lost an hour. Got on a 11:30 tour instead of our schedule 10:30 departure time. We did enjoy the windmill cruise and the tulips were beautiful.

Complaint about This is Holland
On the 24th February 2023 I found out that my Mam has Alzheimer’s in the mild to moderate range.
I have always wanted to take my Mam to Keukenhof gardens because I went there a long time ago with my husband and thought it would be really lovely for her to see the tulips. She is 90 this year so I thought it is now or never.
My cousin agreed to come with me because it would have been impossible for me to cope with her on her own.
I booked the Full day Keukenhof + Windmill cruise from Amsterdam (Skip The Line) via Viator that stated on their website that the activity would last 4 to 8 hours and that the Spring Cruise would take 1 hr for 30 April 2023 and that the activity would start at 12.30 pm.
My confirmation code was 1386127405 and the booking code was 998176189 for 3 adults costing £146.13. It advised that we arrived at This is Holland at 12.00 noon and that we would pick the tickets up on arrival.
I paid £83 for travel insurance so that she could go to Amsterdam and £600 for flights from Teesside airport to Schipol airport and £600 for a hotel in Osdorp.
We flew into Amsterdam on 29 April 2023 arriving at the hotel at 2 pm. We paid for 3 tram tickets for us to get us to Amsterdam Centraal Station.
The next day we arrived at This is Holland on time and were not allowed to join the queue until 12.30 pm. We got on a bus from the Syntus Utrecht Keolis group registration no. 75-BJP-6 after waiting in a queue for 30 minutes at 1 pm. The bus driver hadn’t a clue where he was going and in very heavy traffic went down one road and then went back up it and then did an emergency stop where the woman opposite me flew out of her chair and straight on to me sliding on her knees towards me. Luckily I had walking boots on that protected my feet and I had a bag on my knee that cushioned me but she hurt her stomach area and she hurt my hand. We were sitting in the disabled seats. There were no seat belts on the bus. By this point the driver was becoming agitated and his driving was becoming more agitated and at 14.31 the driver had to reverse in a very tight spot. He tried to enter the wrong road to gain access to Keukenhof gardens and there was a lot of shouting going on and then finally entered the right park but went to the wrong place and then had to turn round and park somewhere on the right hand side of the car park driving so fast that I was worried he was going to injure someone again. When we stopped everyone clapped because the journey had taken 1 hr and 50 mins.
A Hop On Hop Off representative got on the bus and told everyone that it was very important that we all were back at 6.30 pm to get the bus back to Amsterdam and pointed out where the entrance to the park was and I asked what about the windmill cruise and at no point said we would not make the park if we did the cruise. He said you come with me and all 7 of us joined him. My cousin showed him our tickets for Keukenhof gardens and the Windmill cruise. I was not aware that the windmill cruise involved getting on another bus. This was not stated on the information provided by Viator and did not even know where the windmill cruise was but it was obvious the smaller bus was going to take us the same way we had just come from in heavy traffic. Four women aged 20 to 30 then decided to jump off the bus but I still believed we could do the windmill cruse and get to the park for an hour.
We arrived at Kanaalstraat, Lisserbroek not knowing where we were or how far away from Keukenhof we were when someone came up to us and explained that the boat ride would last an hour and that it wouldn’t leave us long for Keukenhof gardens and he said but you can come back next year can’t you. I said I couldn’t come back with my Mam next year and that it was important that we got back to Keukenhof gardens just to show her the tulips. He said ok I will arrange for you to get picked up in an hour arrange a bus for us to take us to the park. Just before the boat stopped a member of the crew came up to a group and said in a couple of minutes you will be picked up by your bus but you 3 will have to stay on the boat. At this point we thought we were going to get dropped off somewhere different but this meant that we lost another hour and there wasn’t anything we could do about it. My cousin asked was I ok and I said I am sad I don’t think we are going to make it back in time.
There was a bus waiting and we were grateful for the driver turning up for just us 3 but we arrived back at 6.05 pm and it was impossible to go to the park and back in 20 minutes.
I feel let down by This is Holland and Viator. You should not have taken our booking for both trips at 12.30 pm. I had to explain to my Mam that sadly we were not going to be able to go to the park and see the 8 million tulips I had promised to show her. Yes the windmill tour was good for the first hour but it was ridiculous having to see them again on the way back. Yes the traffic was horrendous but someone should have told us ok before we got on the second bus look accept it you do not have enough time to do both.
We did get on the bus on time and we were grateful for that but I was not expecting to get back at 7.45 pm. Then we had to get a ferry back to the train station which was a harrowing experience because it had closed off a passageway back meaning we had to walk around the back to get to where we needed. We tried to get into a couple of restaurants at the train station but they were closing. A general lack of information warning us about this issue and nerve wracking for us having to walk back near a river on a very narrow pavement.
I promised my Mam and my cousin that we would go back to Keukenhof gardens by taxi the next day but I couldn’t get a ticket they were sold out 1 May 2023 and we were flying back at 16.40 pm.
I asked in the hotel if the receptionist could help get me a ticket but she said I could buy some off qtickets but I was worried about doing that and she said it would have cost a lot of money to get a taxi there.
I contacted This is Holland to see if they could help me but no one contacted me until we arrived back in England and this was to say they would give us a partial refund.
Devastated is the only way to describe it I just feel so let down. You took our money under false pretences.

The tulips were beautiful. The boat ride was not as described. We saw only 2 windmills. There was no visit to tour a windmill.
