A perfect day! I was a little apprehensive about a day trip being a bit exhausting, trying to fit too much in. Turns out it was a great idea! We had plenty of time in both locations with a proper rest break and a bathroom stop. We enjoyed spending time with the group but also found it easy to break off at times and enjoy the scenery as a couple.
Our guide Jason was very fun and did some quick thinking manuvers to stop us getting stuck in traffic. I was pleasantly surprised with how efficient everything was and of the bits of NZ we got to see that weren't related to the tour.

Our tour guide ADIL was fantastic. He was knowledgeable and funny. He took us to all the best parts of Hobbiton Movie Set & Waitomo and explained everything. I found it very educational and really interesting! He was very engaging with the group and gave us a great overview of the site so that we could explore further at the end of the tour, with a better understanding. I’m very appreciative that we had such an insightful, friendly and approachable guide.

Hobbiton is amazing. The new Hobbit Houses that just opened in December are unbelievable. I would recommend anyone, even those who have no idea what a hobbit is, read the books, or even seen the movie to go an experience this amazing place.
For me the glow worm caves were not worth the additional hours of travel to see them.
I had booked this tour almost nine months in advance as it was part of a large holiday. My only issue was when I got an email two days before stating the tour may be cancelled as they did not have enough people and would advise by 1pm on the day before the tour. Fortunately, the tour company found enough people to make it happen.

The tour was so worth it, especially for the price!! Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable and friendly (which obviously makes the tours so much more enjoyable). Hobbiton was incredible, and I haven’t seen the movies nor read the books! And the flow worms! Wow! The boat ride was a little shorter than I expected, but still well worth it.
Overall, this was an incredible experience that I would recommend to anyone coming to visit Auckland!

I had amazing time in Hobbiton and the Waitomo glow worm caves were really interesting to see. The drive through the country side was also lovely as I got to see how beautiful New Zealand is. The green fields, cows and sheep everywhere. The nature here is incredible I love New Zealand and I will be back again for sure. Big thank you to Jason who was looking after our group and was very encouraging in taking our photos. I really enjoyed the day.

We were on the Hobbiton and Waitomo caves tour today. Had a great day and both experiences were exceptional. Seeing Hobbiton was amazing and brought the films to life and the caves were breathtaking . Adil was a great driver, very informative and knowledgeable with stories you would not hear if you didn’t go on this tour. Highly recommend.

Great Value and Great Guide! The cost is good value for money if you consider the cost of individual tickets at each site. Waitomo Caves adult ticket is $170 and Hobbiton $120.
The van had 10 people comfortably accomodated with free wifi.
Jason was an excellent guide with good info on the tour and additional information. Also a very good driver.
All in all a wonderful day’s outing and I recommend this tour highly.

The short version : The tour was amazing, and thanks to our guide Mr. Adil who was very knowledgeable and kept us very engaged with interesting facts and tips.
The longer version : We were picked up from our hotel in Auckland CBD at about 6.20 am and we went straight to Hobbiton via Hamilton. We reached Hobbiton by 8.30 am and grabbed a quite breakfast before starting off on the Hobbiton Film set tour at 9.00 am for a 2.30 hours duration tour. After the Hobbiton tour, we were taken straight to Waitomo Caves and reached there by 2 pm. The Waitomo caves visit lasted about 45 minutes.
Throughout our trip, Mr. Adil narrated the history, geography and economy of NZ. He explained to us about the flora and fauna of NZ. He dropped us back in our hotel at 5 pm.
