From Osaka, it’s only 1 hour and 33 minutes.
So, if you’re short on time, you can actually visit Hiroshima as a daytrip from these cities.

We had a wonderful tour today with Joe from HIS as our guide for our group of 8. He contacted us beforehand to check what we wanted to see and do in Hiroshima. He has a wealth of knowledge about the peace museum and bomb site. He was also excellent at the shrine on Miyajima explaining all the rituals. Would highly recommend his tour.

Admittedly I was nervous when the day before our tour we were notified the original guide was sick and a new guide was assigned. All I can say is our “replacement” guide, Kaoru, was absolutely amazing from arriving at the hotel lobby early to meet us through her sending us in the direction of our hotel from Kyoto station after a 13 hour day.
A consummate professional who paid attention to every detail, making sure we stayed together through all the trains, busses and ferries on our journey. She provided an easily digestible amount of information at every stop, took an interest in my young adult children’s happiness, and guided us to an excellent traditional breakfast spot on Miyajima island. As we finished our day, she provided us with handwritten directions to the sites we plan on viewing tomorrow with specific train numbers and times. Can’t say enough positive about Kaoru only that I wish all guides were as dedicated as she is.
At the same time our visit to Miyajima and Hiroshima was well worth the investment of an entire day during our first visit to Japan. We look forward to coming back!

First off, let me say Hiromi was an absolute delight. So knowledgeable and went above and beyond for every aspect of our tour. It is def my wife and I favorite tour so far. A+++
