Do you know that just 40mn train ride from Paris, you can be totally immersed in the Nature ? During your stay in Paris, how about doing something different and taking a hike in the most scenic countryside.
This experience, in small group of less than 10, brings you in the footsteps of Vincent Van Gogh, the famous Dutch painter, from Pontoise to Meriel via Auvers sur Oise.
He painted several famous art pieces in Auvers sur Oise (80 to be exact). He died in 1890 and was buried in the village along with his brother Theo.
Our walk will also take you through the city of Pontoise, the countryside of the Vexin , in the quaint village of Auvers sur Oise and along the Oise river until the village of Meriel, where we take our train back to Paris.
PLEASE BE ADVISED that this is a 7.5 miles HIKE with some hills. You need to be fit enough if you want to enjoy the walk. That means you should be able to walk at least 5km at a GOOD pace and without rest.
Please note that the tour lasts 5 hours.

The guide Victor personally developed this route, granting him exceptional familiarity with the area and an in-depth knowledge of Van Gogh's life. The tour is well-organized, and Victor's storytelling and explanations throughout made it particularly interesting. I also gained a lot of understanding of Van Gogh and Impressionism. What a great day! Victor is a knowledgeable and engaging guide. He has developed a unique and informative tour about impressionism and Van Gogh. He took us to such beautiful areas that were featured in many paintings by the impressionists, Van Gogh and Cezanne. You will literally walk in the painting sites!

I was fascinated by that great city, we walked a lot because that was our goal, we used A1 public transport, we bought the Navigo card, the weekly one, I took my photos and we paid 35 euros for unlimited use of the card, it works from Sunday to Monday.
Despite being close to the Olympic Games, we didn't have any problems, we really enjoyed the landmarks, the people, the food, the crazy weather, it was raining, it was sunny and it was very windy.

This hiking tour is one of my highlights of my 2 week trip to France. It was our luck that others cancelled due to possible rain. My friend and I had Victor to ourselves, and there were no other tourists on the hike towards Aubers Sur Ouise! Beautiful , breathtaking, quiet scenery and we saw the places where Van Gogh painted. Victor explained a lot of things along the way and had fun quizzes. I highly recommend this hiking tour. Doing it by bus will be easier than hiking but it will not be the same.

Thave a newfound appreciation for Van Gogh atter this trip! Victor is so informative and full of interesting facts. The scenery of the trek is absolutely amazing as well. Highly recommend this experience.

This tour made Van Gogh' art just so much more interesting with Victor providing lots of fun facts and taking us to the towns and landscapes that would have been otherwise very hard for us to get to ourselves.
