Herculaneum – named after one of the Roman mythological heroes, Hercules – was destroyed by the 79AD eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. The slow walk across all of Ercolano will allow you to observe the moulding of civilization into this remote town. Buried by the same eruption as Pompeii, it’s now a marvellous historic site filled with an abundance of history and breathtaking views. This city offers spectacular ruins, relics and interesting markings left behind by the people who did not survive the eruptio.
On this tour you will also be able to visit part of the Amalfi coast including Positano and Sorrento. Time to visit and explore each town .

Weather was rough and our ship was delayed a couple hours getting into Naples port. Our driver Manuel was there all the same and warmly greeted us. We had to redesign the tour program due to time lost and periodic rain. We made the best of it and Manuel was very accommodating. We want to return another time; the weather in late November is unpredictable we discovered. We were very pleased with Viator's arrangements and Manuel was a delight to work with.

The Driver ( Paulo) and the drive along guide (Anna) were great. They filled the entire day with visiting as much as we could. We want to go back and would change the schedule a bit. You should do a minimum of 3 hours in Herculaneum, and 3 hours and lunch in Revelo. then drive slowly back to the ship along the Amalfi Coast with some scenic photo stops along the way. Much better than a ship tour.
