If you are interested in knowing how Dominicans really live, their customs, their culture, do not forget to take advantage of this great opportunity. Our transport will pick you up at your hotel, you will start a wonderful trip of approximately one hour until you reach Higüey, the first thing you will do is visit a coffee, cocoa and tobacco plantation, we will explain the process of their harvest and preparation. You will visit a beautiful souvenir shop, made by the owners themselves, later we will move to the cathedral basilica of Higüey, you can enter to enjoy its beautiful architecture. Then we will go to the Higüey market where you can see the local commerce among other things, you will have an incredible panoramic view of the church of San Dionisio, which was the place where the Virgen de la Altagracia made her appearance. Upon returning we will make a brief stop at the beautiful and incredible Macao beach to admire its white sands, at the end our transport will take you back to your hotel.

Great to experience local culture in Higuey. Edwin was a great guide. Very knowledgeable. I was with my parents so we needed a trip that wasn’t too far from Bavaro/Punta Cana area. Edwin was very easy going and showed us a lot. Would recommend this if Santo Domingo is too far and you want to experience a little culture. Ask for Edwin as he is a great guide. My suggestion is if you want a rosary, you get it from the church as it is a little pricey at the gift shop. But overall good experience and a great guide

The tour is outstanding. Our knowledgeable driver Nathan brought us to an intimate visit with a local farmer family, where coffee, cocoa and other produce were shown on their grounds. While not interested in smoking, we nevertheless found the visit to the cigar factory very insightful. The last stop was at the basilica of Higuey. This building is impressive. It is in austere brutalist style, but the inside with the glass windows gives the impression of a bright future. A very fascinating building. Also included was a brief visit at a gift shop with better choice and lower prices than at the resort. The duration is perfect, but some basic knowledge of Spanish is probably helpful. For me, the best excursion I have done in a long time.

Nathan was a great guide. We were able to have an authentic cultural experience. The family owned cocao and coffee plantation was interesting and beautiful and the family was welcoming. The tobacco plantation was a unique experience. Translator app helped with communication issues, though by the end, we managed to understand each other perfectly.

It was excellent half day tour by guide Jose. He was knowledgeable and knew area very well. He even took us to local empanada place and food was delicious. I would suggest this tour for anyone staying in Punta Cana and do not want to do day long Santo Domingo tour and get stuck in traffic.

Edwin and brother guided us from Puna Cana to The cathedral in Higuey (about 45 minutes away), which is beautiful. We then traveled past the markets, and through the streets, neighborhoods and countryside on the way back. We stopped at a hand rolled cigar factory, and a coffee, cocoa, sugar, & vanilla plantation. Edwin was a very informative story teller. I would recommend his tour to others.

Our guide and driver Edwin was the best! Described sights along the way and everywhere we went his knowledge of the particular attraction was excellent. Went to a cigar manufacturing plant, a coffee and cacao plantation, and a typical home where the owners welcomed us into their home. Took us to lunch for real Dominican food, and it was excellent. He showed us the real life of the cities and island, and I strongly urge you to take this tour. Driving through the traffic is exciting also!

This tour was a highlight of our trip! Edwin was friendly, knowledgeable, and super accommodating. We were not interested in the cigar factory, so we skipped that and spent more time in Higuey, which included a stop to eat some amazing Dominican food. Edwin was also able to help us arrange transportation between resorts and the airport. I'd certainly recommend this company for anyone staying in Punta Cana.

Can’t recommend this tour enough, Edwin was such a good guide and gave us so much insight into what life is actually like in the DR. He picked us up from our hotel on time and provided water for us. The Cigar making and plantation part of the trip was a lot of fun. The family we met were so welcoming and it was really interesting to see what their home was like. We bought some coffee but wish we’d taken more money to buy other products from the plantation! If you want a friendly, informative guide and to see the real Dominican Republic definitely recommend this tour. Thank you Edwin!
