Among the most visited sites in Italy, Pompeii was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The site is an example of how everyday life was lived in ancient Rome in the 1st century AD, before the city was buried by the eruption of Vesuvius.

This guided tour will allow you to discover public buildings, private houses, the two theaters, the brothel, the spa and the termopolium. Take Via dell'Abbondanza, the busiest street in the city, with important houses and shops. Visit the huge amphitheater, built to accommodate up to 20,000 people, admire the beautiful well-preserved frescoes and marble decorations that tell the life of the Romans in the 1st century AD Follow your guide to observe the petrified inhabitants who were surprised by the eruption and found themselves clinging to each other for protection. Along the way, your guide will show you the typical electoral posters inscribed on the walls throughout the city.

During our stay in Naples we thought about visiting Pompeii, as it is easily reachable from the city with the Circumvesuviana (railway that connects Naples to the excavations of Pompeii and continuing to Sorrento). The ticket office is located at the train stop and here you can choose whether to visit the site independently (€24) or with a guide (€44). We preferred the guide and joined a group, waiting for the departure time for the tour. Our Cicerone was a very nice gentleman (whose name, unfortunately, I don't remember) who guided us for two hours on this very interesting visit, with the typical friendliness that distinguishes the Neapolitans. A nice experience

I am so glad I booked this tour. Often I opt to go on my own without a guide when I travel, but in this case I booked this tour and it was worth the money and the time. I got good communication from the company owner, Elizabeth, who instructed me online how to find the group, where to store my bag, etc. She was extremely responsive and responsible and answered all my questions. But the star of the show was Roberto, our guide. He was knowledgeable, funny, engaging with the group and able to relate to everyone, whatever their level.
