What an absolutely incredible day with Jorge and Maria!! The best fishing day EVER!!! Seriously! … Caught lots of fish, gorgeous scenery, excellent lunch (including fabulous presentation), superb instruction … a 5-star outfit and a 5-star day. Highly recommend!

Do not use this guide service if you are serious about fishing. They are unprepared to provide a professional fishing experience. Sloppy planning and no real communication about conditions and providing the best experience. Waste of your vacation and money. Stick with a reputable outfit and actually get to fish!

Beautiful views. The scenery alone made it worthwhile. It was my first time fly fishing and I lost one little trout. My guide didn't speak English but he was able to demonstrate how to do it for me and was very patient. The food was delicious. I am grateful for this experience.

Sur Outfitter’s bigger trips might be good, but the day trip was extremely disappointing.
It’s all about expectations. The Arroyo Grande day trip is fine if you want to be out in nature, drinking wine, be with your kids, and casting the rod a bit. I think that’s why the reviews are good.
But you’re in trouble if you want to do some actual fly fishing.
It’s 2 1/2 hours away (5 hours roundtrip), and the fishing consists of a “river” that is basically a fast-flowing irrigation canal with small fish and a pond (that’s why they closely crop the photos on the website). It’s actually on the property of La Trucha Tranqui.
Trees on both sides cover the “river,” so you can’t really cast. It’s more like a toss.
The food and guides were fine, but I couldn’t have been more disappointed in the fishing.
Sur Outfitters needs to be more upfront with guests about what to expect. They knew I was intermediate-level, so this trip was a complete waste of time.
So lesson learned. But to make matters worse, they wouldn’t refund me for canceling the second day.
All they would offer is 1/2-off my canceled day as a credit. But since I live 6,000 miles away, it’s worthless.
Hard to have a bad time fishing, but I did with Sur Outfitter’s day trip to Arroyo Grande. Sad.

My son aged 5 and I had a terrific experience in Mendoza fishing early Aug-22 with SUR Outfitters.
Booking process has been very smooth. After the purchase the team was in close contact with me re: the plan, logistics and weather etc.
The fishing day was great and the entire team went above and beyond of what I had expected to get us the best experience. Sergio was truly great at entertaining and motivating my son, and Juan prepared an excellent BBQ (in open air with the Andes views) - this made the day one of the key highlights of our Mendoza stay for both myself and my son.
