The most incredible experience, EVER!! 🤩

I cannot recommend this company highly enough. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I booked the Golden Circle Tour with another tour operator, and added on the snowmobiling with Mountaineers of Iceland.

Unfortunately, due to operational reasons, our Golden Circle Tour was cancelled - but, as Mountaineers of Iceland did not want us to miss our snowmobiling experience with them, they sent one of their Guides, ‘Inkie’ to come and collect us from a meeting point in Reykjavik, to take us on a 1:1 personal tour of the Golden Circle, just my husband and I!!

This was so very appreciated and completely unexpected - Mountaineers of Iceland did not need to do this for us, but they did not want for us to be let down!
They said that they never like to cancel unless beyond their control for safety - so if only 2 persons, they still commit to the plan.
Absolutely fantastic service!

So, off we went, the three of us (Inkie, my husband and I) in a big truck with gigantic wheels… such a cool ride and far more fun than the coach we would have been travelling on originally! 😝🤘🏻

Inkie was fantastic and gave us lots of interesting facts about the Icelandic history, landmarks and culture.

We had a full tour, stopping at Þingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Waterfall, and the Geysir… all were magnificent.

And then, the best part… up to the glacier we went for a thrilling snowmobile ride! Again, just the three of us - it was truly spectacular - we were completely lost for words…we made memories of a lifetime.

The snowmobile ride was thrilling, but when we stopped at various points on the glacier to reflect and take photos, it was silent, calming and very humbling, a real honour, actually, to experience such natural beauty in the safety of a guide.
It was like being on another planet.

We truly saw Mother Nature at its finest. 🏔️❄️💫

We were so lucky with the weather and could see for miles around…blue skies, no wind… perfect conditions; which Inkie advised we were very fortunate to experience, as these weather conditions only present a couple of times, every few years.

We felt very safe and looked after, and spending the day in Inkie’s company made our stay in Iceland extra special - we had travelled for my husbands 40th Birthday, and so this tour/experience really was the icing on the birthday cake…!!

Inkie drove us back to our hotel at the end of a very fun-filled, factual and thrilling day, and we cannot be more grateful to him and the Mountaineers of Iceland company, who went above and beyond to make sure we were not let down, and that we experienced the best they had to offer.

If you are thinking of booking a Golden Circle and Snowmobile tour with this company, DO IT! You will not be disappointed 🩵

Thank you Inkie and the team.
❄️💫 🏔️ 🫶🏻

Wow, what an amazing trip around the golden circle. From the moment we were picked up in the super jeep we had the most amazing time. HP was a great guide, the tour timing was spot on and you are really immersed in Icelandic nature and history. The gullfoss waterfall was stunning. The drive up to the glacier was a fun and exciting ride. Snowmobiling was an absolute blast and the scenery was breathtaking. We got to see the geysir and walk between two continental plates, this really was the highlight of our visit to Iceland. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

This Golden Circle Super Jeep and Snowmobile tour was steep in price but I felt it was well worth it. Toti was our lead guide and he did a fantastic job leading us throughout our long day tour. It began in the morning at 8 am when I got picked up in his Super Jeep outside my hotel at bus stop 9. Once Toti picked up everyone at their respective stops we started heading on our way to the Golden Circle area… we even saw the volcano that erupted that same morning in the far distance from the Jeep. Our first stop was at the famous Gulfoss waterfall but there wasn’t too much to see of it because it was mostly frozen. After that, Toti took the super jeep on the snowy trek towards the snowmobile sight. It was quite a long and often bumpy ride through the thick snow but Toti did a great job and it took about 40 minutes to reach the snowmobile site. Once we got there, we the followed the instructions set out by the snowmobile instructors about getting our suits on and how to use the snowmobiles. Soon we were on our way and we went about 25 minutes out a point in the snowy wilderness and then went 25 minutes back to the snowmobile departure site. It was an amazing experience and I thank all the team members at that snowmobile site for leading us on that amazing excursion! After the snowmobile tour Toti and the super jeep brought us to our last two stops which were an hour long stop at the Golden Circle where the famous Strokkur Geyser was and then finally at an observation platform where we saw amazing views of Thingvellir National Park. After that, we head back to Reykjavik and I was back at my hotel around 8 pm. Big thanks once again to Toti for being our lead tour guide and super jeep driver throughout this whole day and big thanks to the snowmobile instructors of Mountaineers of Iceland for leading us on that amazing snowmobile excursion! I thoroughly enjoyed it - Nolan

Excellent trip. When we booked, it seemed expensive, after the trip, I'd say good value!
Day started early, pick up at Bus stop 9 was very busy so you have to be alert! Started with watching the sunrise at the national park which was lovely. Next on to meet the snowmobiles. Aron was a great guide. Enough information, little bit of dry humour not too much talking and great driving considering the conditions to the glacier. Never felt scared but definitely thrilling.
At the snowmobiles I was pleasantly surprised to find that the snowsuits came in loads of sizes and I was given the right size without being asked. As a larger lady this made me feel very comfortable! We also had ski trousers and coats under the snow suits. The actual snowmobile ride was amazing, terrifying and twice as fast as I expected. The guides realised quite a few in the group wanted to go fast and had fun with us. My husband and i overshot a corner and came off but we weren't hurt and to be honest it's a story to tell! One of the snowmobiles broke down, the guides tried to fix it whilst we enjoyed the glacier for a bit but they ended up abandoning it and taking the two people on that one as their own passengers. They probably had a more memorable ride too as we definitely went faster on the way back!
The journey to and from the snowmobiles in February after a week of heavy snow was not for the faint hearted but we trusted the driver and the vehicle and had fun with it!
We stopped at the waterfall for an hour and the gyser for 20-25 mins on the way back both were great!
All in all, a fantastic trip and worth the money.

The Golden Circle Jeep Tour was amazing! First, we visited pingvellir Djodgardur, then went straight to the snowmobile area. The staff was very helpful and the ride was smooth and I have no words to describe the emotion of visiting the Glacier. The Jeep off road was an adventure. Lastly, we stopped in Geysir and were slashed with the mist by surprise! I highly recommend it.

This trip will put a big tick in on your bucket list! Nikulas drove us through some fantastic scenery in all kinds of weather. His interesting and informative commentary passed the time during the long drive to snowmobiling. The snowmobile area was busy with groups coming in and out, but also very well organised. The experience of travelling across a glacier on a snowmobile in heavy snow was breathtaking. The additional warm over-suit much appreciated . I loved the visit to the Gullfoss waterfall. Nikulas parked away from the observation deck which provided a far better angle for photographs and video. The geysers in the national park were another example of the very different and unique landscape. Also the point for a food stop. The final stop was a visit to a valley where you can walk between the Eurasion and American plates. To do this in snowfall added to the experience. A thoroughly enjoyable day.

I must politely address the comments made in a previous review by FrauleinGeegs as I was on this tour. All other guests ensured they were at their pick up points on time. I very much doubt your voucher confirmed your hotel as the pick up noting your location. There are those who expect a hotel pick up as standard. In fairness to Nikulas he made numerous attempts to contact and find you, even turning round after 30 mins to drive back and pick you up. The ‘hostility’ you reference was a valid and isolated comment from another guest. This was in response to your planned and deliberate moving of seats at an early stop splitting him up from his wife.

The above should not be reflective of the rating to Mountaineers of Iceland. A fantastic trip and a brilliant day out. Thank you.

TL;DR: AMAZING. Once-in-a-lifetime trip. BUT: subtract one star for communication with the tour coordinators, who stated on their site and our confirmation/trip voucher that we'd be picked up from our hotel, but initially left the city without us... Coordinators, PLEASE explicitly communicate with visitors unfamiliar with the area that drivers cannot take their jeeps down Laugavegur for pickup from hotels!

I would rank this as "5 out of 5" for the *incredible* day, the magical sites, the once-in-a-lifetime surreal experience of snowmobiling on a glacier (even in white-out conditions, it was unreal, and when the sun came out over the peaks, WOW), the witty and conversational driver who somehow managed to get us up to the glacier in a national weather emergency (even with the super jeep, it was precarious and intense at times).

BUT we weren't told to meet the tour group at a bus stop. We were told to be outside our hotel on Laugavegur at 8:30 am, ready for rolling pickup by 9:00. We were outside at 8:25. At 8:45, we tried calling the phone number provided to check on the pickup status, but the office was closed (it was a Saturday). At 8:50, the front desk staff came out to ask if we were waiting for a tour, and when we shared the details, he told us to try calling again, because "this has happened before." We found an emergency number, called it, and at 8:55 reached someone, only to be told "We've been looking for you. You were supposed to be at the bus stop." This was the first time that plan was communicated to us. They also were trying to call the wrong phone number. When we shared the language on the voucher we'd been sent, they confirmed we'd written this address down, but were only told then, at 8:58, "That doesn't work, we can't get up that street." We asked what we could do, where we could meet them, and the operator said, "Okay, can I call you back?"

Turns out, our car had left Reykjavik already without us.

The driver turned around and met us at a nearby bus station, but this meant that our tour started 25 minutes late. We received several hostile comments from others on the tour, as it'd been inferred that we were "no shows" and had messed up the whole schedule. On top of the bad weather, this meant we had abbreviated stops at Gulfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park, which we'd been so excited to see. We ultimately had one of the most memorable days, but the frustration of this miscommunication could have been avoided.
