WHAT TO EXPECT

1. Hveragerdi
The first stop of the day is the town Hveragerði, where we have a short restroom stop. Hveragerði is about 45 min drive from Reykjavik. There are restrooms, a bakery and an exhibition about earth quakes. Consider this a short pit-stop on our way to the Golden Circle.
2.
Faxi is sometimes called the little brother of Gullfoss, it is a small but beautiful waterfall in the Golden Circle area. Through Faxi runs the salmon fishing river Tungufljót. There are viewing platforms from up above the waterfall and guests can also have an intimate experience as they walk almost all the way up to Faxi. Despite its small stature compared to Gullfoss, up close its strength can not be denied.
3. Gullfoss Waterfall
Gullfoss, is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. It is powerful and tall. Through it the river Hvítá, which is a glacier river originating from Langjökull, plunges down this two step waterfall. There are a handful of viewing platforms to observe the waterfall and above Gullfoss there is Gullfoss center where there are restrooms, a cafeteria and gift shops. NOTE: The path leading all the way up to the waterfall is closed during the winter season.
4. Woolmarket Myrkholt
Myrkholt is a farm located in between Geysir and Gullfoss. The owners are welcoming and friendly, but the woolmarket allocates beautiful home made woolen sweaters, hats, gloves etc. from the neighbouring farms. All made with local wool by the local farmers. There are a handful of horses, foals, sheep and during late spring there are new born lambs to see there as well. Its simply a wonderful stop to make, especially for animal lovers and children! The horses especially are very photogenic and are always willing to strike a pose for their guests :)
5. Geysir
In Haukadalur there is a field of hot springs associated with the hot spring Geysir, but Geysir is one of the most famous hot spring in the world and used to be a geyser. The main display is the hot spring geyser Strokkur, which erupts approximately every 5 minutes. Here we have time to walk around the area and this is also where we break for lunch. At Geysir center you find restrooms, gift-shops and the restaurant Glíma which serves for suitable for any pallet or diet.
6. Thingvellir National Park
Þingvellir is full of history and natural beauty. It stands between the North-American and Eurasian tectonic plates. This rift valley has a special place in the hearts of all Icelanders. It is where our nation was formed by the Norse Viking settlers when they established the oldest parliament in the modern world, Alþingi Íslendinga, in the year 930 AD. At this stop there will be enough time to walk around and explore this natural marvel. This is the closest you can get to being in two continents at the same time. We will have the opportunity to walk in the rift valley, where the tectonic plates are pulling apart. We can observe this movement since under the national park the Eurasian and the North-American tectonic plates are moving apart by ~2 cm every year. Þingvellir was designated as a World Heritage of UNESCO in 2004 and is unquestionably one of the most beautiful and historic places in Iceland. In the area there are restrooms and coffee shops for visitors.

Wendy was an amazing guide! Her bus picked us up right on time, and she was knowledgeable, warm and engaged the entire day. We booked our tour via Trip Advisor, and since there was an itinerary on the tour's page, we took that to mean it was fixed. It seems more flexible depending on the time of year and the guide's local knowledge. Wendy recommended confirming it on the company's website. When she heard I was especially excited about the wool shop listed on the itinerary on Trip Advisor, she graciously made changes that worked around her itinerary that included two small shops in a town she was very familiar with. So, in addition to an already packed and beautiful day, I got to see wollen goods and a local store that sold yarn, while getting an authentic local experience I wouldn't have had otherwise.
The bus was very comfortable while keeping the group small, and for all the things we saw and experienced, and the time we all spent exploring, I'd absolutely recommend it. Thanks again, Wendy!

The Golden Circle Full Day Tour was a highlight of our brief stay in Iceland. The morning pickup was punctual, the bus was comfortable, the wifi worked well. The route was logical and flexible, leaving time for ice cream and a chance to visit with Icelandic ponies along with all the advertised stops. Our guide was entertaining and informative, providing a running commentary about historical people and places as well as contemporary life in Iceland. We had ample time to enjoy the incredible scenery and take our photos and returned to Reykjavik completely satisfied. Thank you Anastasia!

Today we took the Golden Circle tour with our excellent guide and driver, Dominica. She made the experience extra special with her knowledge of the area and interesting stories. The small minibus was very comfortable and clean. I can’t imagine doing this tour in a large group. I highly recommend this tour for anyone coming to Iceland.

Nice tour, good pace, we didn't feel rushed at any of the stops. Franklin our guide is what really made the tour. His fun personality was as big as his stature. He was full of fun facts and stories. We learned so much about Iceland from him. If you take this tour I would request Franklin!

The trip was amazing. Enough time to do everything and so well planned out. The bus had Wi-Fi and air con too. Our tour guide Völli was just amazing. So funny but informative and accommodating. We had the best day.

Unfortunatly there were no Speakers in the last row of the bus. Although the guide Andres turned up the volume, the detailed explanations could only be understood in fragments. Andres explained in detail, clearly and entertainingly. He was happy to answer all questions.
The promised tasting was only 1 small Smash bar.
Otherwise, there was enough time at all stops and at different times to the big busses.

This tour is both entertaining and educational and Volli did a great job in providing useful details for each stop, what to expect and watch for. He also gave some interesting historical information about Iceland plus the scoop on North American and European tectonic plates. Great day, highly recommend.
