Experience a full day at the beautiful Friesian island of Texel and its surrounding UNESCO World Heritage site Waddensea! On this family friendly full day island tour we will drive up to the north and take the ferry to Texel to explore its National Parks, historic villages and beaches. The Waddensea is famous for its distinctive difference between high and low tide, the bird migration and its beautiful nature. If the tide and weather provides, we will include a short hiking excursion on the mudflats, the actual bottom of the Waddensea. In one of the historic villages we will stop for lunch (not included). We will pick you up in Amsterdam in the morning and will bring you back late afternoon. A full day of island experience at one of Holland’s most beautiful islands!

My husband and I had a private tour (as this was off-season) with the co-owner Eva. She was amazing!! I asked her questions for almost the entire 8 hours of the tour and she answered each one thoughtfully and intelligently (and without ever telling me to stop!!). She is so passionate and wel-educated about Texel (and actually the Netherlands in general). And Texel is more beautiful than we imagined (as well as the scenery along the way on the trip to the ferry)!! The daylong trip was a relaxing way to end our weeklong go-go-go trip of the Netherlands and show us a completely different side of the country. (Eva also made sure we had snacks and drinks and chose an excellent place to eat lunch which was very much appreciated.). Very highly recommend!!

Interesting shallow seas and beaches. Lots of wildlife, especially varieties of birds. Seal sanctuary was great. Guide was knowledgeable and engaging with great conversation.

What a great idea we had to spend a few days on the island of Texel. Absolute calm, nature, thousands of birds observable in the different nature reserves of the island, etc.
As is often the case in the Netherlands, the people are courteous, the streets and villages perfectly maintained and, very important to us, a change of scenery guaranteed. Contrary to popular belief, we ate very well at reasonable prices. We will return without hesitation

It was my second visit to Texel and it was even more special to share it with my sister. We saw different villages, and more sights on the island, ate a wonderful lunch, looked for birds and seals and shared it with a family from Spain. Eva made the day wonderful and relaxing. We will do it again, I’m sure.

My husband and I had a very memorable day with Eva. Depending on the tides and weather your tour might differ a bit so don’t hold them to our itinerary!
We thoroughly enjoyed travelling with her from Amsterdam, across the ferry and through the sights of the island. She knows so much about the area and is a wonderful conversationalist.
The optional seal tour was a definite highlight. We had high tide so got to watch the seals hunt for fish in the sea around the boat. It was an experience that was good for the soul.
We also saw a lovely windmill, nature reserve and toured the small charming island towns. Included was a delicious meal at a local restaurant.
Make sure you pay attention to the weather and dress accordingly - remember you can leave things in the auto when you go out to tour.
This was an excellent way to get out to the sea and countryside away from the touristy tours. Highly recommended.

M wife and I are visiting Amsterdam for our thirtieth wedding Anniversary, we like to get off the beaten track and out of the city. The visit to Texel Island was ideal … our knowledgeable guide was very helpful in helping us understand the wonderful things we saw. We decided to add the seal watching tour on to the trip and we definitely recommend it if you enjoy being on a boat. Amazing trip would gladly go again.

Very stressfree but interesting island activity
with a highly professional guide. It felt very
good to do this activity after doing other more
crowded and stressful tours in the previous
days because it was very calming to get
out of the city and the tourist hotspots. the
beautiful scenery of walking along the sandy
shores and muddy flats felt amazing. The food
recommended by the guide was very good
and there were local specialities available.
Visiting the local village was beautiful too.
Definitely worth coming to Texel, especially
with this guide!

If you want to include a quick nature break from Amsterdam in your vacation plans this is the perfect company to go with. I chose the all day island tour and found myself immersed in the natural beauty of the Netherlands. I loved the opportunity to walk and birdwatch in the amazing marshlands, travel by ferry and see the tidal fluctuations of the Waddenzee, watch the activities of resident seals and gulls, and see some smaller villages on Texel. Eva provided lots of interesting commentary and even catered to my interest in plants. I hope to come back in a different season and bring my family for another A+ experience. Thank you Dutch Tours!
