Our guide Andrew was wonderful. He was passionate about the penguins and also very patient with the guests who can’t stick to times.

The event I wish shared more detail about what to expect. It was pretty cold, especially since sometimes you’ll be on the beach for at least an hour waiting for the penguins.
Bring a blanket or jacket because you’ll want to be cozy and alert.
Andrew kept us safe and really made efforts to share tips on how to make the most of the experience. Loved the spots we stopped for photos and food.

For guests who take this tour or any other. Don’t make 15+ people wait on you because you can’t keep track of time. Use your phones alarm!

Loved this trip! Our guide Barry was wonderful. Super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. It was a brilliant, action packed day from start to finish.

The only thing that would have made it better in my opinion would have been if it started a couple of hours earlier so that we'd have had longer at the Moonlit Sanctuary, for lunch, at the Nobbies and to review the internal exhibitions and shop at the Penguin Parade.

There was good and there was bad and there was outstanding! The bad - it was a cold rainy day. My Viator booking clearly showed that we should meet in front of the Immigration Museum on the corner at 12:45 pm. We showed up a bit early 12:30 so not to miss the pick-up, but when there was no bus by 1:00 pm, I called the tour itself. They said, “Oh yes, the pick-up is at 1:30-1:45 pm and we don’t know why Viator is sending notices with the 12:45 pm pick-up time. So we waited in the rain for an hour. The good - visit to the Koala sanctuary was nice and got to feed kangaroos, but the path was filled with mud puddles and we had to pass through using rain ponchos; weather still bad. The penguins came out of the water at 8:30-9:00 pm and that was fun to watch, and to see them en masse beside the main boardwalk. The outstanding - our tour guide/driver, Andrew, was fantastic. He made the trip fun, gave us great advice for getting a good view of the penguins, and really helped out in a pinch for my wife to recover her cellular that she dropped at the tour site, with assistance from two other drivers from the company. That was awesome, above and beyond.

We were very blown away with this tour, I’m very happy to have waited a day to write this review because other competing tours in the area do not compare to the level of enthusiasm, interaction and humour Luke B provides! Singing Down Under with the entire bus will definitely leave a lasting impact - great tour Luke, thank you!

We loved getting to see the animals at the sanctuary + and the lunch (we had lunch at Isola De Capri and it was incredible) but the REAL highlight was the penguins, it truly was such a magical and unforgettable experience.

Tips: dress warm and expect to be out until roughly midnight! Next to the water is very, very cold. Watch out for the penguin police. Don’t bother trying to get great photos as the penguins come up from the water - give yourself some TIME to walk back to the bus as you can see them up close and get better shots - do not use flash! Also ask for Luke as your tour guide. Nice to look at and super funny!

Cameron was a fantastic guide. Some of the people on the bus wanted to listen to a song on YouTube and he accommodated which led to a great sing a long. He was very knowledgeable about all the animals we visited and gave us lots of time at each stop. The bus was very comfortable and the itinerary was great. A very good outing.

This is a 3 part trip and an investment of time, but well worth it.

Moonlit Sanctuary was a great way to see native animals up close. Definitely pay extra at the park to get your photo taken with a koala. If you want to buy food to feed the kangaroos and wallabies, only purchase one container for your family. The birds were more interested in the food than the animals by mid-afternoon when we arrived.

Phillip Island was wonderful. Because you will be sitting on benches on the beach it will be chilly or cold (depends on time of year). Some people brought blankets to keep warm. Do not bring food outside as the very aggressive seagulls will attach your food and you. No photography is allowed once you're outside. This is to protect the penguins as the errant flash is harmful to them. Please be mindful of this. Many people did not seem to care, which we found disturbing.

It is worth it to pay extra for the seats that are closer to where the majority of penguins exit the ocean to make their way to their nests. It was the most amazing experience to not only see the penguins come out of the water and cross a very big beach, but to see them find their way to their homes. Amazing.

So glad we did this on the recommendation of a friend. Definitely time and money well spent.

Amazing experience for a real animal lover! You’re not allowed to take photos or videos as the flash can damage their eyes so if you’re just looking for a cute Instagram pic it’s prob not the trip for you! Although that didn’t stop people trying there are rangers to stop people filming or having their phones out
